My dad sent me his combat conditioning videos by Matt Furey, and they are awesome! After my workout today I did some of the workout and it busted my ass. It's all body weight work, like hyndu squats, divebomber push ups, and stuff like that all with the Matt Furey twist. It is the first time I did high rep stuff and my joints actually feel good. You guys should check out his site mattfurey.com, it has lots of good info.

I've heard it's pretty cool. I might get it...

No offense but unless you are new to calisthenics the only thing you will really learn is his way of doing hindu squats, hindu pushups and bridges. Most if not all of the other exercises are the typical burpees, handstand holds, pushup, situp and leg raise variations and such. There is no magical formula of exercise sequence or periodization plan. He basically says "Some days do max reps, some days do multiple circuits of 10 some days do a couple exercises for a lot of volume and some days do a lot of exercises for a little volume each. He does give a couple of routine suggestions at the end but nothing more imaginative than anyone could come up with based on pulling the exercises out of a hat. I'm not putting him down because the exercises are obviously good and have stood the test of time but I really didn't get much out of it other than remembering a few exercises I forgot and his philosphy which is basically:

1. Work at bodyweight exercises which are better for functional strength than weights (becuse weightlifters/bodybuilders have useless muscles and are the first to get injured in a fight-lol).
2. Sometimes go hard sometime easy depending on how you feel but do "The Royal Court" (Hindu squats, Hindu pushups and bridges) and some of the other exercises in the book every day.
3. Stay away from going to failure most of the time.
4. Try to work up to doing really high numbers of reps in each exercise (500 hindu squats, 250 hindu pushups and a 15 minute bridge hold).

Thanks for that Mike. Alot of training videos are that way. There's nothing new under the sun.

Some of the stuff is fun but I'm sure you've already done 99.9% of everything you'll read in that book. One fun workout I got out of it was the "Karl Gotch Bible" workout. Where you take a deck of cards, shuffle them and throw them out one at a time doing squats if it's black and pushups if it's red. You do the number on the card. Face cards are 15 and aces are 25. The whole thing takes just under 20 minutes if your in good shape and it's a hell of a conditioner (I did it just under 14 minutes at my best). I used to do variations of that one a lot when I was preparing for grappling or mma. But it's not any better than a million other calishenic type circuits anyone with half a brain could dream up.

I would like to do a training video some day. I've always said my video is just going to be lifting. Just lifting. That's what I want to see. No one wants to hear me talk, they want to see my words in action. right?

A little talking would be okay. Put it together and tell me the price. No editing necassary. I'd gladly pay $30-50 for an hour video of something I can learn from. Tape a few training sessions and explain what your doing and why as you do it and send me the vid and tell me the price.
Seriously,

I'm with you guys. I love training videos. I have all the good ones. And alot of crappy ones. I've watched them all a hundred times. Nothing motivates me like seeing Stephan Botev doing 19 snatches with what I power clean (400 lbs about).

I've been shooting alot of video in prep for putting something together. Shot most of my event training this morning. I really want to make it entertaining with as much lifting as possible. So it'll be a while before I put it all together.

I'll be happy to pay you for it. Just raw footage is fine just copy whatever you have on to a $2 tape and let me know the price. I will watch anything on strongman I can get my hands on. The more instruction the better. I've been having the toughest time with the stones and I have watched Sven, Magnus, Jouko and Hugo do them on their tapes over and over and over again picking apart anything I can take away from it. I still have the hardest time being consistent. It's like one workout I'll grab them and I'll be like POW! right up and the next workout it's like someone came over and glued them to the floor. It's getting very frustrating to say the least. Any tips I can get from anyone on what to look for when grabbing them is always appreciated.

I like the Marunde Muscle video idea too. I have watched all the other ones at least 30 times each.

I'm in Millis MA and although I can afford a few bucks for a video here and there and my wife "lets" me keep 3 tires in the driveway a trip out to train with you and the time off from work would be a pretty hard sell-lol.

.....I would have already been spiing on you guys-lol. My father, who I have never seen in person before, lives in battleground WA. My wife is always trying to get me to go meet him face to face maybe I can use that as an excuse to come out. How far are you guys from battleground?

I don't even know where battle ground is... We're 2 hours west of Seattle.

Says you're 4 hours north up 101. This could be a possibility. Maybe this summer I'll head out. I ran it by my wife and she said "Exacly when in our marriage did you figure me out?"
Then I piled my kids onto my 500lb tire and dragged them up and down the driveway-lol. My 5 year old pulled the sled with a spare tire on it 50 ft. It was actually inspiring as she could barely budge it but refused to give up. It took her about 2 minutes but she said "I can do it by myself" and kept on pulling.
