that is totally OK dude, for an amatuer. There is a reason we classify and rank sports, military etc. It is a descriptive means of depicting a persons dedication to the organization, which in our case is the sport of strongman.

Winners NEVER EVER miss workouts. Life is full of twists and turns, and will certainly throw all kinds of crap at you. Some things have to stay consistant. You have to eat, you have to go to the bathroom, you have to sleep, and you MUST TRAIN!

I would count studying for a final as a good reason to skip training. Your strength will eventually start to fade, but you can always fall back on education.

You have to have your priorities straight to take a quote from Hulk Hogan. You need to say your prayers eat your vitamins and train hard. Every thing else is second.

as you would say 'right on bro!'

if i am ever to miss a workout, my guess is i actually would miss it e.g like you miss a partner if they go on holiday or whatever

i love training, did 2 sets of 20 rep full squats earlier, i would think the second one was more extreme than anything some people will do there whole lives - i wouldn't skip that for the world

Now I have to take a stand...
J have to agree with Jesse.

But to be a winner in strongman or any other area you have to be a winner in Life as well.
If your Life sucks and you never reached a given goal you will be frustrated and you will not be able to focus with 100% on, lets just say your strongman training... so you will never reach your peak, your maximum strength.

For me: If I reach my goal next week, wich is to pass my exams with good marks, then I will be happy, I will be motivated, I will be full of energy and ready to reach my next goal!

What I mean: Strongman means alot to me, and I have the goal to be as strong as I possible can, this is one goal, the major goal.
But Life is just like a puzzle and strongman, for me, is one of the biggest parts of it (beside my family and the ones I love) but what is a puzzle worth if you don`t have all small parts that conclude it in the end? You will never see the full picture...

And to pass my test next week will add one more part to this picture, to this big puzzle, and because of that it will give me strength in the end.

I hope you understand my point. Yes you have to have priorities but you also have to see the whole thing.

Another example would be: You walk over the street and meet a beutiful women (you feel that she is something spezial), she invites you for a date and you say: "sorry I have to train later" :BB:
Maybe she would have been the love of your live you would have married her get a child or whatever, and with her love she would have supported you, and would have made you stronger in the end, she would be one more part in the puzzle, but you have thrown this opportunity away for one workout...

I will not support the opinion "Missing workouts is great" I hate missing workouts but sometimes there are things in live where you have to, but in the end these things will make you stronger!

I hope you understand my view and sorry for the bad englisch....

Tobias...

i was just busting your balls man :)

Training isn't everything unless it's part of your goal or you make a living from it. It's cool man, you do what you need to do to get where you want to be.

Tobias, sounds like you have a handle on your life. That's great man. Now step it up a notch and take 45 minutes of your day to train. It will give you energy, keep you more mentally alert, and will increase your energy levels thus making your study time more productive. no excuses!

I agree with Jesse.Even if I have to wake up extra early to get at least some sort of a workout in,I do it.I feel like crap if I miss workouts.Even if Im never strong enough to be a pro,Ill always make sure that Im in the gym,as it seems to help me to have an all around better day,and at least I know Im working towards that goal.It is tough to train with certain jobs, and obligations, but it can be done. You might have to schedule your training different than you would like to,but at least youll still be training.

It is all relative to what your goal is and how dedicated you are.

There are 24 hours in a day, and unless you're physically disabled to the point of being quadropolejic (sp) you can always find some time some way to progress your training.

Heh I just realized that even if I do miss a workout I still have done my morning wo (which is req.) so I am still getting a good hour of training daily, just not as sport specific as I would want.

Amen. I"m up training until 4 or 5 in the morning sometimes. You do what you have to do. Want something bad enough you'll go get it.
