Does anybody know this guy? I've never heard of him.

That is awesome. His name is Joe Cantreed. He discovered his talent when he had to read in middle school and was illiterate and was teased savearly. He then went insane, taking out his rage by tearing up every book in the school library.

That is sweet. He should race a wood chipper.

That sickens me. The guy is "popping" 1" thick phonebooks and calling it a record. I'm coming out of grip training retirement to claim what's mine. Time to call my friends at the phonebook company...

that guy is gay......he's popping the phone books like clay said. If you watch how denis does it compared to this guy, you will see that denis is actaully ripping the phone book.

my fiancee can pop those phone books that homo is doing.

I was freinds with the guy who used to hold that record Rick Belden. Unfortuantely we aren't freindly anymore, because I called him out. He used to do the same thing as that popper.

he's not really ripping the book... clay can give a better explaination of the popping technique...in fact, he has a video demonstrating it i think.

after i read his explaination of it, i ripped a 2" book in a matter of seconds.

basically you grip the book, press in with your thumbs to bend the book, push your hands together then do like a bending motion...watch the video to see the difference between Dennis rogers and this guy do it...you will see that the first guy is basically ripping the book by pulling it apart, and the fake is doing similar to what i mentioned.

i'm pretty sure that clay would go through a 100 books in that time frame with that technique

I knew that would piss you off, Clay.

Email those ignorant MF'ers and tell them what's really up.

My initial reaction was that someone claiming a WR based on using a technique that, while effective, isn't something that I would consider legitimate anymore, might have been a bit harsh. I've smoked more books than that in 3 minutes using a grip n rip technique and I am sure I could get over 50 in 3 minutes with that popping technique. Hell, I wrote the article on how to do it and became the scorn of purists everywhere! hahaha

I just really didn't like how they called Dennis Rogers a fraud. Aside from being a great man who gives a lot back to the iron game, Dennis is amazingly strong and definitely the real deal. He realizes his talent comes from God and shows off his abilities through his ministry all over the country. I personally watched him rip a deck of cards into quarters with his hands behind his back...while three of his five fingers on each hand were duct taped shut. No fraud there!

I emailed the show to let them know there is a big difference in techniques and that Dennis (or I) could smoke that record. I would even go head to head with Ed or whoever just to watch the books fly. I'm sure Ed's a nice enough guy.

Oh, no, have you really retired from the Grip game? Won't there be a Mash Monster 6 mash?

Clay, I learned popping them from you and just starting gripping and ripping. Thats fricken hard. I think i could break that record for popping them. I fact i'm going to try it this weekend. I think i still have enough phone books left. Go show'em how it's really done.
