I just got off my butt and registered here. I have been a "lurker" for a couple of years. I am a former sprinter(high school and college 100 and 200).
I have been on active duty in the Navy since 1983. Until recently I was attached to the Marine Corps. I was able to train in the weight room as well as do significant amount of running due to work requirements. My normal walking around size had been 6 feet and 185 pounds at about 10% bf(I had abs)
In April 2003 I was injured(dislocated right foot, fractured pelvis, ruptured 2 lumbar disks and had abdominal injuries) and have had to change my career field somewhat. I have just completed all my rehab and am looking forward to really being able to train. While I was rehabbing the back/pelvis and getting my digestive tract back in shape I also got my right rotator cuff and labral tear fixed so I am as healthy as I have been since 1990. Unfortunately my strength is way down and my bf is probably 20%. I had been down to 155 pounds a few months after my injury but through the miracle of my wifes cooking and the brewers of Guinness I am at 200 pounds of flubber.
My goals are for the immediate future is to get my bf down to 10-15% and get my big lifts
squat/deadlift/press/clean and snatch back up to a respectable(for me) level. Long term I would love to be able to do some Highland Games competitions in a couple of years. I am on my last tour of duty here at the Submarine base in Bangor Washington and will retire in 4 years.
Currently based off of last weeks pre-lim workouts I am only able to squat and deadlift about my bodyweight(leaving a bit in the tank). I cleaned 175, snatched 115 and pressed 130. I am going to try and be patient and build up. I really enjoy this board, all the people here are doing it not just talking about it.
Thanks

Welcome aboard squid, Sounds like you rough time there. Now was those injuries caused by hanging around those Jar Heads or just bad luck? Any how start up a log and let everyone give you a hand in your training. By the way were you a corpsmen?

Yes to all three questions. I am still a Corpsman I just (according to the navy) am not fit for "Sea duty" but in deference to my years of service they are letting me finish up on shore duty.

Thats cool the Navy will let you finish out. How many will that be 24? Navy Corpsman is a good friend to any Marine, Simper FI brother and Thanks for your sacrifice and your years of service! :YR:

I am a Senior Chief and can stay to 26 but I am going to go to the University of Washington's PA program and get into a Sports Medicnine post grad program somewhere.
I love the Marine Corps and if I had a time machine I would go back and spend my 24 years in the 03 field instead of as a squid.
Thanks for the post. I will start a journal and count on some help to keep me going in the right direction.

I have lost 8 pounds of flubber and have gotten the old muscle/neural memory to kick in. I got 205 in the power clean (minimal dip), 160 in the P-Snatch and Push pressed 220 off the rack.
My front squat is coming along pretty well. I can't back squat quite yet with my low back and flexibility issues but I am happy for some measurable progress.
