Well, I finally decided to quit doddling around and actually do some competing. May 7 is a powerlifting competition, and currently I would fall in the 125kg class, but Im only 115. Next class down is 110kg which I will have to loose 12-15lb to get in. What Im getting at is should I try to get in the lower class or stay at my current weight (or increase)? I figure my bf is in the 15%range. Ill post a pic if I can find one. the atvar is too small to tell. I will be in the junior class (20-23yo) I'd appricate any input. Thanks

here are a couple from a few weeks ago. any bodyfat estimates, and do you guys think loosing 12lb in a month is possible without loosing too much strength and muscle? Or should I go for the big class?

To drop weight for a competition depends on how serious you want to place versus testing your own personal bests. How long have you worked on getting weight up to where you are? If you are one of those guys that can easily gain it back, then I would shoot for lower class as you will probably place higher - but start now as you don't want to drop too much weight too close to competition otherwise your strength will be zipped. What is biggest you have been weight wise? will it be easier for you to add 10-12 lbs then loose it? Peace, Joe

i reckon u shouldn't worry about wat placing u get, but worry about how much u lift. i reckon just stay at the weight u are and just go for a PB man. i'd rather come last and lift a PB then come first and lift crapy :D

obviously I want to get first, I can get PB in the gym. but I also want to be my strongest, probably meaning staying the same, and compete against 125kg guys. Depending on my activity level, I can gain quite easily. But I loose weight much easier. Miss a coulpe of meals, up my activity level and Im down a couple pounds easy. I've really gotta dose the calories to me to grow. But I did want to lean out a bit for the summer, so now would be a good time. I just don't know how much strength I will loose loosing 10lb.

If you diet correctly, you wont lose any strength. Dont skip meals, instead eat smaller portions. Skipping will just screw your metabolism up, and you'll end up burning muscle.
