View Full Version : Update on "can't stand with stones"

I got another shot at the stones today after not lifting anything for a few weeks. I tacked up real good and got that damned 330lb stone onto the platform, then jumped up there and struck a double bicep pose a la Jesse. Then I did the stone again, this time much easier it seemed. No bicep pose though ;)

When I first tried that stone today, I had a problem with it rolling on my shirt because I was using the over the top grip. This time, I went over the top again but with my arms spread apart more - kinda in between the bear hug and over the top. Once I got that sucker locked in I just tried to get it up there as fast as possible.

The top stone in next weekend's contest is 367 and it would be quite sexy to get that sucker on the platform too. I think I have a shot at it if I have enough tacky left, and if my forearm sleeves don't fall apart by then.

Thanks to you guys who helped me in my other thread. There was a ton of great information in there and I learned from all of it. It's nice to be on one of the few boards on the internet that isn't filled with poser jerkoffs who don't have any time under the bar, so to speak.

well i'd have to agree. That last string that you started helped me out quite abit as well! Good luck with 367. I enjoy the helpful attitude of all the guys on this forum!

hey Clay,

found this forum as well. As a comment from someone who saw you on both stone lifting occasions...your technique this past weekend was great. The first week it looked like you were trying to arm and grip it up to the platform. I know you have a great grip, but you were not using your strong ass back! Last weekend, you popped the hips and used your back to your advantage...got that stone on your chest centered over your hips.

Great work and here's to a bunch of us getting that 367# sucker. See you Sat.
