for 2 weeks now..since my last contest I've had some serious pain in my forearms. Especially on the log, excrutiating pain. It peeks if I was to do like a curl with a log, palms in. It's what I call ..more of a "bone" hurt..than a muscle hurt.
it hurts on the top of the fore arm, like I said, if you were to pick up a log and do a curl with it, that top part of the forearm, and it really hurts when I "stop" the movement it just floods my arms with pain. I've had sort of forearm "splints" before from over training, but that is usually on the radius bone (front of forearms)...
Does anyone have a clue?
I've totally stopped training all last week (lifting stuff) and tried log again yesterday..and it killed. didn't hurt on stones and hurts on tire (not as much as log though)..I am stuck now..with a contest coming in 2 weeks...I am in deep doo doo....just gonna have to do it on pure "heart"..

Go to a chiro or sports massage therapist. My therapist says its relieved by working on the traps if I described it to her right.

Sounds like the same pain i had and it was a combination of some scar tissue and bicep tendon issues at the insertion.
Go find a chiro that specializes in ART or Graston, or a sports therapist. I'd also look for one that has a cold laser and ultrasound. All those together can speed up the healing tenfold.

Didn't you also have bicep/shoulder issues from the yoke. This could be the ongoing effect from compensating for that. Just a thought.

yeh ben..although it was more of a shoulder issue and it's sort of gone..I can do yoke with little or no pain, but this forearm thing is whack! like i said..no pain (that i recall) during the contest..but trying to train afterwards was a bear. I really went nutz on the tire in the contest, so a bicep tendon thing could be the thing..
I will see my chiro..and see what he says..some have suggested that stretch the wrists/forearms would help...

have you been icing?
taking alieve?
do you wear elbow sleeves?
I am not sure I understand where your pain is. please describe it again.
people suffer from medial or lateral epicondylitis (golfer or tennis elbow) It is tendonitis and sometimes is a partial tear of the wrist flexor or extensor mass. It can really be a pain in the ass for the regular population let alone a strongman competitor.
I would start with icing 15 min 3 times per day.
take 2 alieve two times per day with food. sometimes it can be rough on your stomach.
stretch your wrist flexors and extensors (keep your elbow straight and bend your wrist up, hold for 30 sec and then down, hold for 30 sec.
try going to the pharmacy and getting a tennis elbow "brace" it is a wrap with an air pillow. put the pillow two fingers below your lateral or medial epicondlye.
I would do some strict pressing during the next few weeks so you dont lose too much OHP strength. what events are in the upcoming contest>

it does feel like it's something to do with the flexor or extensor cuz it is on the top of the forearm right below the elbow...and the pain just slams me right when I stop the excercise..like as soon as i put the log down..it "pumps"/throbs...
I did ice yesterday after log..and it seemed to help..I will continue, and I will stretch as you suggested as well.
the events in Jersey are..tire medley, farmers/sandbag carry, stones, truck pull and log c&p....that's a good idea though..I will keep up my "pushing" training and legs...
thanks for the help...

If it throbs then there is some inflammation in your tendon. I had similar issues with my forearm last year to the point that I could'nt train.
Definitely go get some ultrasound and cold laser treatment. Try and get at least 3 or more ice massages a day on it, and most important lay off the movements that agitate it. Also have your chiro or PT check for any laxity in your wrist. If this is the case then some of the ligaments in your forearm could be loose as well.

This sounds exactly like the tendonitis that I had. I took a month off of stones, tire, and log cleans - and after the recovery, I got some rehband sleeves, covered my forearms and elbows with nicoflex, and did a handful of sets of curls prior to doing any bicep-intensive work. I also saw an improvement when I started training biceps every two weeks or so directly, with hammer curls and rows.

You just described what I have been experiencing exactly, except on the other sidre of the forearm, and a little closer to the wrist. Log cleans and tires are murder on it. I feel it a little during the lift, then when I stop it's excruciating.
It seems to be getting a little better just by "muscling" through it. I am trying to stretch my forearnms more often and keep a very tight grip on the log when I clean it. That seems to help a bit.

Yeh J... i can just get through it..if I 'HAVE' to....but am saving that for my contest..and yes..that's exactly how mine hurts...exactly
I am going to see my PT and maybe my doc about it...but in the mean time I've been icing...and staying away from log..I think the warm up thing is what really has messed me up..not warming up properly...
this has been loads of help..
