Guido and Luigi are apparently among the many DW haters.

When I lift in the gym my co-workers tell me I have bad form and couldn't do it if I use the right form (mostly DL) and all of that BS. I just tell those type of people that I must be doing it right because I can lift it and if I was useing the wrong technique couldn't lift it. I think a lot of those people just say that because it is easy to critisize and hard to do.

I concur, Ben. They're just armchair experts.

This is more along the lines of making fun of the internet warriors who say that they can lift the same weight as someone much stronger than them, but they don't because they don't wanna use "bad form." I don't think it's meant to make fun of the "person" who deadlifted 500 in the comic.

Edit- nevermind I misunderstood what you said and thought you meant the people who write the comic.

There's still something to be said for not deadlifting like a scared cat and crapping out your spine when something finally fails.

This is true, but I stopped doing deadlifts like that, so your point is moot.

Its not moot, my point has nothing to do with you, I was commenting on Ben's post. Please don't go back to your old ways of getting really defensive over form comments, especially ones not aimed at you.

No, your point remains moot as evidenced in the following video:

I don't quite get your point.... he has a bent back and is strong so its ok for everybody else to do the same? First, hes an elite level lifter and someone who has that much experience has much more knowledge of their own body and what the small % difference in arch may make to the integrity of his back. Second, he is an elite level lifter, once again, so he may have certain abilities that others don't to stay healthy. Third, due to his suit, you will see although his upper/mid back is quite arched, his lowerback isn't too compromised.

Lastly, you agreed with me about form in your last post, why change your message just to start an argument? I'm not in this to argue with you.

Yeah, let's not argue.

looks to me like it makes fun of the d-bags who say they "could" do something but never will because they are f#@%ing pu@#%es who make excuses like "genetics" so they feel better about themselves for never applying any actual effort.

i think it's funny when people say stuff like "i could do that too, if.."

no you couldn't. not you, not here, not anywhere, ever. you have no balls. stop talking.

You guys both have good points.

Another point of mine is that you cant always worry about form expescially in strenghth athletics like strongman. When I go to do an event I'm not going to go up to the stone or peice of equipment and make sure my arthrokenetic chain is lined up perfect to do the lift, you just gotta do it if you want to win (although form is important).

There is another trainer at my gym and he always comes up with crazy challanges for me to do because he knows I train for strongman. He always chooses body weight exercises that are challangeing and I dont mind. He wins a lot on those I didn't care until he started saying what's the matter strongman, you are so strong, but yet you can't beat me at this BW exercise with no weights. So I challanged him to do a one arm dumbbell press above the head standing up and how ever you get it above your head as long as you use one hand. He said that he didn't want to mess up his alignment, so I said that we could do a 1RM c&j and he said that it was going to be impossible to do it with the right form and body alignment.

The point is he was being a wuss and if you want to prove your stronger than someone or everyone in the world you might have to sacrafice form to a certain exstent.

I didn't see that there was a second page to the thread and the part of your post that I put in bold is what I wouldn't mind telling some people.

Actually I do not think the cartoon is being a "hater"
It seems like the last picture shows the guy being like "yah I could do that too if i cheated" but his facial expression shows that he is full of it and no matter how much he cheats he will never deadlift 500lbs.

make sense?

Keep your arguments from other message boards out of here. Do it in PM's or emails. This board is not for this stuff... I just wasted 5 minutes of my time deleting your posts to each other, which no member would benefit from reading!

If you have any questions, PM me!

Thanks Eric, but that wasn't meant to get other people to respond... just convey my frustration with the direction the posts were going. Honestly, we don't have to clean up much here. The board members have created the environment, and the mods just police what few problems we have. So in a way, thanks to the active board members!

I lost positive rep points because of the posts being deleted. That sucks.
