Say, I have been taking a maltodextrin powder to try to get my carb intake up each day. I saw it described as a "complex" carb, but after reading a bit more online it looks like it acts more like sugar. Here is the stuff I am using: http://www.nutrabio.com/Products/carbomax_maltodextrin.htm

After reading a bit from a few places, it should not cause a big spike as long as I combine it with some protein. Is that true?

Bottem line, maltodextrin is for weight gain and/or glycogen recovery IMO.

You're post has inspired me to write an article on the glycemic index. or maybe I'll just add an index to my site... well anyways, stay tuned!
