I just got home from the competition a while ago... It went well... I did not place in the top 3, and they didnt place after that.... I think there was 14 guys in the HWT, and I weighed in at 217, so I was with the HWT's.... So I was the lightest, and the youngest HWT there haha... great challenge.... On about every event I probably beat half and lost to half.....I was usually right in the middle to upper of the pack on every one, but never finished in top 3 in any event.

First Event was the Farmers Walk, 200 Lbs. each hand.... 160ft., or 90 seconds... I finished in 19 seconds... I dropped it with like two feet to go, my right hand just slipped, I could have held them forever, it just slipped, bummer. Maybe should have used chalk.

TIRE FLIP: Max. flips in 60 seconds, 250lb. tire, 17 flips.

Truck Pull: 3/4 ton Diesel crew cab truck, 100 ft. in 41 seconds.

Husefel Stone: 200 lb. rectangular stone, max distance, I carried for 523ft.

It was a great learning experience... It probably would have been smart for me to drop 7 pounds and get into the LWT, but, oh well, better challenge at HWT anyway I guess... I still had a good time and cant wait for next year... My goal is to win the whole thing next year, I will finally be 18 haha... I am already psyched for my next event training day, as I know now where I stand. I felt I could have done better, but thats what I am training for I guess... Decent day overall. I've got a looong way to go.

I am also wondering how to get a video clip onto the computer... I have it on the camcorder, but how do I transfer it? I am hoping to get it on here so you guys can help me out... Thanks

Good job, Jared.

You have a lot of potential as a strength athlete. I think you made the right decision by not cutting weight for the contest. Train hard. What do you have lined up for future comps?

Thanks, Zeb... Nothing as of right now... I am heading into football and wrestling... After that all I have planned is Iowa Games stuff, both Bench Press and Strongman, I may do another Bench Press one earlier, but it depends because it is coming right off wrestling...I just heard about the 'Iowa's Strongest Man' contest in Feb... that is right around districts time for wrestling, which is a bummer, I think it falls on that day..which stinks, I dunno if I would compete that day, but I would have loved to watch... What about you? anything planned?

It did feel great... I am glad I did it while I am 17... Learned lots of stuff from the older guys, and it was great experience... I am really glad they are good enough ppl to let me in even though I was am not 18... It was really exciting, and I can't wait for next year... It was a humbling experience, getting beat by much older guys... Great motivation.
