What are stone series like for most women's divisions at contests?

Weights of the stones?

Platform heights?

Just curious. Our women's stones are 155,165,175,185,195. We only have 48" platforms, which seems to be a problem for a lot of women because they are generally much shorter than the average man.

Any more input on this would be appreciated.

Not much more input to give because Lacy's right :) I have noticed in the shows I've seen with women that the height tends to be a killer more than the weight. I'd consider making platforms at 3.5 feet more of a standard than 4, at least for the heavy stones, if hosting a contest.

Paul, my wife has a set of stones that go 100, 135, 175, 210, 235. We use a 48in. platform and it goes pretty well. Sometimes we have put extra matting down so that the "ground" is raised up since we can't lower the platform.

Hi Paul,

The platform heights and stone weights that I used for the women in my contest last year were:

LW: 42"/113#, 42"/129#, 42"/147#, 42"/166#, 35"/186#
HW: 42"/140#, 42"/150#, 42"/172#, 42"/196#, 35"/210#

If you take a look at the results, I think these worked out quite well:

At that time, Callie and Machell were the top two lightweights from Nationals and I think Kara Mann was the champ in her class too. The fifth stones could have been heavier for Kara and Callie. The 42" platforms were large round electric cable spools and the 35" platforms were wine barrels. The photos on this page give you a better idea of the height relative to the competitors:
