I love Phil, and he knows it. Jesse's win just proves what I have always said...the top 6 or 7 guys can beat each other on any given day. This is not a sport where you judge someone from one contest. I hope we can all agree on that someday.

Yep, on the Anvil Willie said it was Kevin. At 19, our youngest Pro.

Howzit guys & gals!
Still here in Honolulu and eating so much raw fish, I'm probably 310 lbs now.

This was probably the most competitive Hawaii Strongest Man that I have been a part of. It was HOT...87 degrees. It affected me for sure, but Kevin Nee kinda felt wiped out too. If that didn't bother him, he would have had a better day. The kid was unreal...I have heard about Nee, but after seeing him live, whew!

The Tire Flip was one of the hardest tires I've seen. Low to the ground and weighed 1,100 lbs.
The Truck Pull was SICK! Only Phil finished it. 2nd place was Travis with over 8 feet. I knew it was heavy when Odd couldn't budge it. They had a semi with a Low-boy trailer, AND THEN put a Dodge Durango on top of it!

I will definitely post pics when we get back home of Corey St Clair on a moped!! My family and I were driving, and was seeing this tall guy with a sour face because his moped was sputtering along!! I said, "Thats Corey!" and we turned around to take pics of he, Jesse and Callie riding mopeds.

I really wish more Hawaii guys competed in this show. There were 10 guys that flew in from the Mainland, and 1 Local guy. Whats up with that?? I hope they don't feel intimidated by seeing top USA Pros entering, but instead look at it as an opportunity to compete on their home turf with them, and possibly beat them.

We will have lots of pics when we get back, and Callie shot alot of video. The Marunde's are on the same flight as us tomorrow night back home.

HIGA.

To all of the athletes in HSM 2005, what a show! :) It was a pleasure meeting you all again and I (many) hope to see you guys again next year. Grant, I must say, what a crowd you have. Congratulations to Jesse who took first again, Phil 2nd (again), and Travis 3rd. Equally as important is the 19-year old Kevin who received his pro-status.

Below (attatched) are photos of the recent HSM held in Honolulu, HI beginning from the truck pull. My girlfriend didn't get a chance to photograph the earlier events (farmer's walk, log press, and tire flip), but we did manage to capture the rest (truck pull, yoke walk, and atlas stones) including post-contest pics, so enjoy! If you see a photo that you'd like to use at a higher resolution (1.9M), let me know which one and i can send it to you directly.
