Squatted big last sunday, and immediately felt a ton of pain at the top of my shoulder, near the front between my collarbone and front delt. Everyone has told me this is the area around the rotator cuff. The arm works fine, just hurts really bad. I have iced it and it feels much better, but I am concerned just a tad.
Any suggestions for further rehab? Is a strained tendon bad enough for me to go see an ortho and get xrays, or is this common enough that ice and ibuprofen will eventually fix?

it would be extremely rare to strain your rotator cuff tendon squatting.
I would ice and use anti inflammatories for a week consistently.
Xrays would not really be helpful to diagnosis anything with your rotator cuff because xrays look at bones and not muscles and tendons.
you may have caused a little irritation to you AC joint. Stress on maybe. unless there is an obvious separation and xray would not really be helpful here either. it would not change treatment.
Are your shoulders really tight? Do you have problems racking the weight low on your shoulders with light weight on squats? Stretching your shoulders woudl probably be a good idea and help with many things. Make sure you are balancing rear delt and lat work with pressing movements.
If it is feeling better. I would continue to ice and take ibuprofen. you should be fine.
