Ok, I've decided I want to get into strongman. I'm done playing football now, and I'd like to have something to add new purpose to my workouts.

I'm looking to buy a few items. I was thinking of picking up a steel log and some farmer's walks. Should I go with a 12" log? It seems to be the one that is most used in competition from what I've been reading. Also, where would you guys recommend ordering equipment from? I've been searching around and found a few places, but I'm not sure who to use.

I'm also wondering if there are any people who train in the Pittsburg, PA / Steubenville, OH / Wheeling/Morgantown/Moundsville, WV areas. I go to college in the area and would love to find a place to train.

Thanks guys.

I started off with a 12" log. I think it will serve your purposes well.

As far as equipment, look no further than Pitbull and Alan Benninga. Great equipment, service, and business. Very reasonable prices for high quality equipment.

I'm glad someone pointed that out. Elitfts has them for $500 and Brute Strength list them at $260. Ironmind didn't list any. Now I know where to get the stuff I can't build myself.

12" Logs:
Benniga-$175
Brute- $259.99
Elite- $499.00

Yoke:
Benniga- $150
Brute- $329.99
Elite- $425

Grip machine:
Benniga- $75
Elite- $179.95
Iromind- $229.95

And I guarantee his farmer's are a helluva lot cheaper than others.

Thanks for the reply guys. Definately going to look into Alan's equipment. $175 for the log is a heck of alot cheaper than what I saw on some other website.s
