I know and seen TraviS Ortmayer load the 520lb stone..... and yes that was a amazing feat of strength..... And it is the largest stone i have ever scene loaded....
I was wondering if that was the largest stone ever loaded? I know thats probaly not "officially" the world record but i was wondering if anyone ever lifted anything more than that or what is the official world record

The record was Jouko Ahola loading a 474lb stone onto a barrell, I forget the exact height. Therefore I guess you can consider Travis as the world record holder.

I though Lazlo Fekete had the record. Not sure what it was exactly, but I know it was in excess of 500#

Atlas Stone for Weight:
Lazlo Fekete, Hungary 232.5KG/ 1.28M
(511.5 lbs to 50")
Travis may have lifted more, but I think we all recognize that official world records have to be under scrutinized conditions. For example, how accurate was the stone weight.
I think it would be neat to have more contests with a max stone. That is, competitors take turns lifting progressively heavier stones (Wessels rule).

Richard's right. Lazlo has the record "officially" (bastard) at 511 lbs. I think my stone is right around a 23" diameter and I have been told that the one Lazlo used had much smaller diameter. My stone's weight is as accurate as the rock scale I used to weigh it on. 520#
I wish I could set it up in a comp. so it could become an officially recognized lift.

T.O.-
We've all witnessed you loading that 520'er on the video, but I was just curious if you monkey with that thing very often. In other words, now that you've conquered it, is it more routine for you? Is there a bigger one in the mold? (scary thought)

Has anyone got the clip of the 520 lbs stone, being loaded?
Love to see a max Altlas stone in Comps.
My second Attempt on Stone, i mangered a 180 kg 396 lbs Stone to Chest height.
Would've had it on a platform, buit didn't have one at the time.

Having seen the 520 first hand, I can tell, it's rideculous. You really can't appreciate the size of the thing until u have seen it up close.

I totally agree with Dane I have tugged on that thing a few times and it is unreal...but next time I'm in Houston I'm gonna have to load it to wipe that smirk off T's face. :N:

I've had a 260 kg (572lbs) stone made up in the back garden.
Looks like its out of Indiana Jones. Too slippery to grip. or it could be too heavy? :BB:
