First-congrats to all the WSM competitors esp. Phister and Pope.
Second- Jesse great write up! Inspirational
Now to continue the crew/teams thread:
This past weekend Team Big Sac's Charles Mickey competed in the Military Nationals gutting out a second place after sustaining a calf tear on the tire flip. He was in the lead up until that point. That was probably our last comp this year so........
While we are definately no Unit or Sequim Crew
or FF or AZ Desert Strength or ......ah hell, you get the picture
2006 for Team Big Sac shaped up thusly:
Hardware was brought home from Missiouri, California, New Mexico and Arizona. We had hardware in lw women, 200 lb men, 231 men, 231-265 men, hw men. Not a bad year for a rag tag group of realtively newer strongmen.
More importantly than the trophies: This year we had four new guys come out and train and enter their first contest. Two of these guys are only 20 and 22 years old. One is mid twenties, the other is an over 40 highland games athlete. We have also had calls/emails from at least a half dozen people who live in the area who want to come and train. Also, we have a couple of guys who are moving to CA to go to school who said they want to come out and train next year.
All in all, it was a great year for us. It's been a blast going to contests and meeting new people. It has also been great watching the sport grow and being able to help it grow by getting new people involved. Hopefully next year our old bodies will carry us through to Nationals so we can meet even more people from this board.
Until then: everybody going to Nat's-good luck. Hope everybody had a great year/season and we hope to see you next year at some contests.
see ya
