So back in my younger days (sarcasm) when I was doing a lot of grip stuff and big spike and big bar bending, I'd always start the bend of the bar while kneeling and pulling the bar across my right knee cap. Usually without a towel because it worked better without one. This was dumb. Don't nobody ever do this.
So now it takes me a few sets to warm up my legs unless I wear some knee sleeves. The first set of any exercise hurts pretty good but then things loosen up.
I'm just posting this as a warning that you don't have to be as old as Charles Mickey (HA!) to get sore joints. I just turned 26 a couple weeks ago!

Along this same vein (from a guy actually OLDER than Mick)-- I have been using that Blue Heat horse linement stuff before squats, and on my shoulders before overhead, and it really seems to be helping my joints out. That, and always wearing my rehbands when squatting now too.
I can't remember ever bending a spike over my knee, but, back in my wilder days, there may have been a couple of young ladies...............ahhhh forget it.l

I will most likely spell this wrong but you all will get it. Try using gluco and condrotine plus msm. It realing works for me any way.

I do use it, and that has helped quite a bit with the soreness. Tonight it was only sore after the first set of front squats and then it loosened up. Hooray, glucosamine with chondroitin.

Clay, your advice is good. I was diagnosed with osteoarthritis at age 29. The thing to remember is that arthritis is progressive, and once the damage is done it's done, and we all have to live with our joints for the rest of our lives. I am on Celebrex, which I'm not too thrilled about, but without it I would barely be able to walk. Glucosamine/Chondroitin/MSM supplements haven't really made much of a difference on me, but they're worth a try, because they seem to work for a lot of other people...
