I've got an elbow that's pretty junked out, I haven't been able to fully extend it since tuesday. I was thinking that it was just tendonitis but it seems like it has some fluid on the back on the elbow. Most of the soreness is on the goose egg (brachialis--I think) of the forearm with some soreness on the back of the elbow but a get some pretty good pain running down the length of the forearm when I try to straighten it. Haven't done any extensor work for a while so that be a big part of my problem but I also don't remember any acute injury or any kind of pop, but this all happened after a heavy overhead workout and then playing softball. Any one with similar experience? Sound just tendonitis (or maybe I'm being a pansy)? Also, I have a comp coming up in a few weeks, anyone have any ideas on how to tape it up/protect it?

For any lower arm pain, I'd suggest ice, heat, and using some of the extensor/dexterity exercises shown at www.handhealth.com

You might invest in a pair of solid steel shots to rotate in your hand. Not those wimpy hollow ones with the chimes inside. I mean like 2lb ball bearings. Whenever I had any kind of pain in my tendons from excess grip work, I'd do some dexterity exercises and shot rotations and it cleared up pretty quick. Oh yeah, and don't lift or play softball any time soon! haha

How do you know when you've done enough dexterity exercises or shot rotations? When your forearms are aching because of the pump, that's when!

Hope it gets better.

Best advice i think is go and get it looked at, be it by a massuer or doctor no use making it worse.

One way or another, the answer is always "get some balls." Just kidding, thanks for the help guys. Started doing some extensor work yesterday w/ those thick bands and have been doing the RICE thing; both seem to be clearing the junk out and the swelling seems to be going down. Will ease back a little bit on the hammer work and tricep work, but that seemed to help quite a bit yesterday. At any rate, this all might make for an interesting log press in a few weeks. I'll probably try to pick some ball bearings tomorrow, thinking the farm/tractor supply stores should have some heavy duty ball bearings. Thanks again
