I've been diagnosed with a herniated disc in my neck (between C6 and 7). My doc wants to remove the disc, and put in a Titanium plate, along with a bone graft. He said I should make a full recovery, with little loss in ROM. Anyone ever undergo anything similar?

Mike-

I have a friend named Reed who had a proceedure done that sounds similiar to yours. He was a great athlete, not huge but strong. he was a great wrestler also. At the age of 38 he couldn't even pick up his twin babies. He had the surgery because of the pain and weakness (although it was in his lower back.) The doc's cut out his old vertebrae and grafted in some bone. After this they encased it in a titanium case to fuse the vertebrae. After 8 months he helped me pick up a 500lb treadmill and carry it 100'. He then proceeded to throw it in a trailer like it was a toy. He is now stronger than ever...
