Jesse not sure remember me from the Arnold ( I train with Joe Brausch out of Cincy)but I was spoke ot you for a while about m injury at Nationals a year ago this week ( boy do I rememebr that day) I was in the top 5 at nationals and blew both patella, my right, acl, right mcl and ripped my VMO off. I spent 6 weeks in the hospital and 2 months in a wheel chair. I was back loading stones by April and Willie saw me pick up a 300 in MAy while judging the Xenia show.
I will say that I ended up tearing my right patella off again in June loading kegs. I CAME BACK WAYYYYYY TO QUICK. I am felling very good and just started squatting this week.
Trust me the weight thing REALLY sucks but it is a great time to get your upper body strength up. My over head and bench got VERY strong.
You will be laughing about all of this a year from now when your loading the 400 for reps trust me. Keep your head up. Trust me it gets better.

Thanks for asking. I had a small tear and the anchor put in the elbow( like Jesse knee) Again I came back to quick. ( I am impatient ) so now I have a VERY small tear ( considered low to mild on the MRI) They do not feel they need to do surgery and would rather have me take it easy. I can front press with no pain, and bench to about 400 for reps but anything over that will send me into some serious pain. I plan to just take it easy and focuss on my legs over the winter. I am planning to compete late summer of 07. I appreciate you asking.
Jesse, If you read this BE PATIENT!!!!!!! I had never had a serious injury and thought I could just bounce back. If I would have let my body recover I would have been competeing at Nationals this year. Oh well I hope someone else learns from my mistakes. :BB:

hey thanks for taking the time to post that. I'll do my best to be smart about rehab and working back into heavy training.

No problem Jesse. You upper body is going to blow up big time while letting your legs rest.
I like the fact you went to the gym after surgery. I did the same thing when I got out of the hospital. I had my girlfriend and buddy lay me in the back of an SUV and drive m eto the gym, then I wheel chaired my self to a bench and hit somes presses. It was kinda funny especially since I was on blood thinners and I BP went thru the roof. I was dizzy and sweating within 10 minutes. BUT it was a great mental motivator.
Please keep us posted. I am VERY interested in reading about your progress each month.
One more thing- Tommy Konos Knee supports were incredible in keeping the swelling down right after my incisions were healed enough to wear. If you have a pair throw them on while while you are on your feet ( weeks 6-15 post surgery)
