weighing stones

for you guys that use "big game" scales to weigh stones, how do you set that up? how do you hang the stone?

I haven't tried it, but I'd imagine you would have to rig up a sling for the stone and a tripod to suspend the scale.

I weigh my stones using a big game scale.

This is how I do it.

Hang the scale up on something sturdy.
Get a car jack, then put a pice of 2x12 on it, roll the stone up the board and onto the jack.
Raise up the jack.
Strap the stone in using some type of strapping material. I use the teather thing your stupposed to put around your waist and the tree when your climbing up a tree stand.
Attach the stone to the scale.
Let the jack down.
Read scale.
