I don't want to turn this into a political tirade, but I hope that everyone on this forum of voting age will go vote tomorrow. I don't care how you vote, JUST PLEASE VOTE!!! Why am I so passionate about this? I read an article this morning that stated that although we like to think of ourselves as the beacon of democracy in the world, the US ranks behind 130+ other countries in terms of voting turnout. The right the vote is the only 'true' freedom we have. By this I mean, you can't go into a crowded movie theatre and yell "FIRE". I'm do want to get some of you 'right to bere arms' guys started either. And freedom of the press, well we all know what censorship is, don't we?! But the right to vote, nobody can force you to vote any way except the way you want to. We cannot complain about politics if we don't vote, plain and simple. SO PLEASE EXCERCISE YOUR RIGHT TO VOTE TOMORROW!!!!

Unbelievable. I can't actually believe that I agree with the Speedo on something.

your brian. Voting along 'party lines' for that reason alone is the most idioic thing you can do. If you don't know about the issue or the candidate you should not be casting a ballot (I won't get into how you just blew off a major civic duty by not knowing). Voting for a candidate just because they belong to a particular party is as bad as those who don't vote. You get who the PARTY puts up. Not who agrees with your views, has the best ideas, or has the best qualifications.
You're walking in step with the party. SEIG HIEL! You get what you deserve and jack booted thugs are more than happy to take over either party. Just look at what the Republican 'fiscal conservatives' have done to the federal budget or the Democratic joke of a state legisature here in MA. The middle ground is a vast wasteland these days and it's a sad commentary on current poilitics.
Wow... that was one hell of an off topic rant considering I logged on to post about a new workout PR that made my day! LOL

Let's not go there!!! This isn't what I started this thread for. There are many different opinions on this topic and this isn't the forum for political debate. Let's not state who to vote for. It's your choice and leave it at that!! Just make sure you get out and vote!!!!

I agree....just vote....if you're uncomfortable with the issues and are unsure, just write my name in, lol, jk.....but seriously, so many Americans take for granted what a great freedom the right to vote is and they don't even bother, yet very few Americans hesitate to complain about the state of affairs.

Great thread Mac. I also encourage everyone to go out there and vote. There are a number of very important issues that our country is facing right now and it is our duty to let our voices be heard.

The Ringer. and is your voting question serious? There should be signs or ask your parents. In Maine each city is divided into districts or wards and each ward has at least one place to cast your ballot.

How about uninformed voting? I know nothing of what these people's platform is other than the BS in their trash talk commercials...do I vote without knowing what I am going in for?
Can we really know anyway?

Internet is a wonderful thing!!!! Just do some research and everything is available. If you don't want to vote, don't vote, but don't complain about what government does or does not do if choose not to.

of course you can still vote, just look for the (R) next to the candidate and avoid the (D). the (D's) raise taxes and we all know most strongmen are poor

In reality we are all uninformed voters. They are either lying now or later, regardless of party. But vote anyway it is still the best system in the world.

Probably too late to get my hands on an absentee form eh? Real far away from my district or whatever...can I still vote for statewide stuff or something?
(civics class should be taught later than 8th grade ;) )

I dislike politicians regardless of party affiliation, so I choose not to vote..Although I do vote on referendum questions..

Minnesota has on site voter registration. Just show up at the poll for your current area with an ID and a bill like an electric bill showing name and address and they will register you on site.
You have to wait seven days to get a gun but not to vote and I think voting is even more dangerous. ;)

Good topic, voting is very important. You should know some things about who you are voting for or else you are more dangerous than the people who stay home. Find out the candidates stance on issues that are important to you and vote accordingly.
In the end, it usually comes down to choosing the lesser of two evils, so to speak.

But that's the thing...The lesser of two evils is STILL EVIL!!!

As they say here in St. Louis "Vote early and Vote often". Even if you are dead or don't even live here.
What a city
