i squatted yesterday night. i did 455 x 3 x 5. i did not feel great, just got in, warmed up, did my thing and left. this morning i woke up and my right glute area has a slight pain when i extend my leg to walk. believe me i know pain, i've torn one of my my left hip flexors, and tweaked my L4 and L5. any feedback would be great. i'm planning to take the first week off jan. off( i try to take 1 week off every 3-4 months for healing, thats when you really hurt!) thanks to all in advance.

i think your pain could be a couple of things. None of which I would loose any sleep over. All of these ideas are "Could be's"
Since you have had a history of injuring your lumbar discs in the past, you may have more than one level that has a slight buldge. Buldging discs can place pressure on nerve roots and cause referred pain in the buttock and down your leg. Think of the nerve roots as strings that come out of your spine, converge in to larger ropes, and then travel down your leg. Theoretically, if you have a minor disc buldge placing pressure on a nerve root this would cause tension on that "rope" and when you are walking you can be feeling the nerve pain in your butt.
A slightly subluxed sacroiliac joint can also cause referred pain into the buttock and leg. Many strongman will irritate their SI joint because of what we put our bodies through.
You may have tweeked your glute, hamstring insertion, or piriformis. I doubt it because it looks like you were using what you would consider a medium weight.
Regardless, ice 20 min. 2-3 times per day, take Alieve twice per day, if it is not better in two weeks, that is the time to seek other advice.
