Depends on what life looks like for me in the next few weeks. I have been wanting to go for some time now, but I don't get vacation time, and may have to have some work done on my shoulder.

I was going to check into the hotels but if you are a veteran can you recommend the best place to stay. I would like to be as close or central to the various venues, especially the strongman venues.

Look for a hotel in the arena district of Columbus and you'll be in walking distance. If you want a great meal and a beer check out the Gordon biersch brew company just a couple blocks from the convention center. Never had a bad meal there.

I'm thinking about going. The other forum I frequent (wbb.com) always has a very large group. I know I'm new here, but wouldn't mind meeting up with some of ya'll if anybody can make it.

We always rent cheap hotels a few miles away from everything, but it would be nice to stay at the convention center or somewhere closer. You have to pay to park just about everywhere downtown, its usually cold, and most places that you park wont let you leave and come back without paying again. If you can stay at the hotel connected to the convention center,Id go for it.

I'll probably be going, it's only a 3 hour drive so I can probably get a group together and split the costs.

Maybe I should get a picture with Jesse so I can have the standard avatar around here :M:

I can't wait to hang out with some of my bro's from Westside Barbell and watch the Arnold Strongman too.

what's the convention center charging these days? My buddies and I went last year, drove there and back in the same day and that made it 12 hours of just driving. So we're wanting to stay and hang out at the after party...anyone go to that last year?

As posted earlier I am going with my friend Jason and my dad. I will be doing meet and greets and signing autographs all weekend. I promised myself that when I became a big celebrity I would not be a jerk. I can't wait to meet all my fans.

I can't make to the Arnold so I was wondering if I could get your autograph in March? :B:

thx I'm trying to see what I can get, we'll be driving in morning of anyway, so staying a little out of the way is not such a big deal.

Try the hotels late January, the rooms, where people have not confirmed, are released then.

I think I can make it, if I can get motivated. I mean all the Arnold offers is access to the best Strongmen / Strongwomen on the Planet for a weekend. Hot babes running around dressed like it's hot outside. Lou Ferrigno selling autographs, free stuff galore, MMA athletes like Chuck Liddell, MarkColeman.
All of this tends to make me feel like I got screwed in the genetic pool, but usually something always makes me go.
:D

As far as I know these Strongman athletes should be there. There will be many more also.

Marunde (just guessing)
Mariusz
Savickas
Koklyaev
Pfister
MacDonald
Bill Kazmaier

I recommend the Frog Bear and Wild Boar Bar for close and easy after/ during convention relaxing. There are many other good places. Someone mentioned Gordon Biersch, they are good too, and right behind Frog Bear.

Craig Titus used to throw after-parties at the Promo-West (now called Lifestyle Community Pavilion). He is obviously not going to do it this year, he and his wife are in jail on murder charges. Arnold has an official after-party that you can pay to get into or get invited. It is a dinner with most all the professional athletes and staff. It cost a few hundred dollars for a ticket though. You should find fliers laying around saying where parties are at if you are into doing that.

I've only went to the Arnold during 2002, 2004, and 2006 (briefly). Have had lots of fun each time. Can't wait to go this year and see the battle between Zydrunas, Pfister, Koklyaev, and Mariusz. Hopefully Ortmayer does good in the Ukraine tomorrow so he gets an invite.

Specific events can take place in several different venues, but all venues are located in Columbus, Ohio.

Be cool to meet up with you guys too.

BTW if anyone is planning ahead for 2008. Reserve a room at the Doubletree Hotel. They book up for 2008 usually a week or so after the Arnold 2007. It's worth it though if you can get the reservation.
