Jeff Peterson and I promoted a pro/am contest in Minnesota yesterday.

Matt Wanat won his heavyweight pro card and Jeff Peterson won the LW card.

LW:

1st- Jeff Peterson
2nd: Paul Bergmann
3rd: Jason Adamski
4th: Alex DeMarco

HW:

1st: Jason Bergmann
2nd: Dave Ostlund
3rd: Matt Wanat
4th: Ron Mazza

Here's how my day went:

I finished 2 pts behind Jason Bergmann overall.

Log Lift: Got my 305 opener and was pretty easy, but had no leg drive on 325. 4 guys tied at 345, so I was 5th in this.

Frame Carry: I made it the full 50' with 740 in 13 sec. Only 3 of the HW's finished with no drops on this event.

Medley (2 flips w/1020 tire, 1 flip of 550 fingal finger, drag 720 chain 50'): I finished in 54 sec out of the 90 sec time limit and was the only HW to do it. I felt like dying afterwards. Sam McMahon had to drop out after he crushed his finger between two chain links. Jared Spybrook tore his bicep on the tire in the LW's.

2" Axle deadlift: HW's used 575 lbs. I tied Ron Mazza for 2nd w/7 reps. Jason won with 8 reps.

Arm over Arm: Finished 2nd behind Dave Voth. Jason was 3rd.

Atlas Stones: HW series was 310, 330, 360, 390, 410 all to 54". I placed the first 4 in 17 sec. and had #5 lapped. I just had nothing left. This is the first time in 3 years I have missed an atlas stone and I'm really disgusted with myself. Jason, Ron, and Pete Konradt all got 4 but in slower times.

We were lucky enough to have the weather gods on our side since it started raining about 45 mins after we had finished. Had a crowd of a couple thousand all day and everyone had a great time. This show would not have happened without all the staff we had, they were awesome. If it were not for the staff, there would have been no way I could have competed and promoted.

It was a great day for a contest. I'm sunburnt to hell and my grip still hurts from resetting that frame so many times. I'd be in alot worse shape if we hadn't had a forklift around to reset the anchor chains.

I was in the bleachers for the entire show and from a spectators' perspective it was an extremely well run show. They had a lot of people helping so there was a pretty quick transition from one event to the next.

Willie Wessels did a great job as MC, keeping the audience informed and encouraging them to cheer for their favourites. There was also a tall slim guy who kept running around getting people to make noise. He did a fine job keeping the audience going.

I am now hoarse from cheering on my friend Matt (the newest Hwy pro) and my face and arms are lobster red ( next time I remember the sunscreen) and I had a blast.

This year spectator - next year competitor :)

Congrats to Dave and Jeff on a job very well done!
