Cost was about $30, which includes a 2'x4' piece of 3/4" CDX that I didn't put on. I loaded my 230 stone onto it and it seemed to handle the weight fine, although I think it will start to bitch and moan once stones over 300 get loaded onto it, so tomorrow I'll cut the other piece of plywood to match this one and make it double thick just so there's no problems for a long time :)

Clay, you need to post some pictures of your new home gym setup.

I really like your platform idea.

Did you notch some 2x4's for the pins or is the plywood supporting the weight there? Thats what I'm gonna do for a platform when I get some extra time. Could you post a few more pics Clay? Maybe from a few different angles and from underneath?

Here's a couple more pics. The one from the side shows the 8" square hole and the sides of the 2x4's supporting the hole. The other pic shows the underside. If I were to make this platform over again, I would have made the plywood twice as thick right away so I wouldn't have to come back and do it again. Also, I'd have made the 2x4's under the hole span the entire length and width of the platform for extra strength. Strengthwise, it's fine, but I like to build things into overkill :)

Morgan, I was going to put 2x4's under the plywood where they would be on the pins but after test fitting the platform on the rack and hanging on it, I decided it probably wouldn't add that much strength and would be more of a pain in the ass as I had planned to notch the 2x4's down their length to create a groove that the pin would sit in to keep it from moving. But I had notched the front corners of the plywood to fit the rack snugly so there wasn't any problem with the platform sliding around.

Also, my original plan was for the extra piece of plywood to act as a fake wall/ledge that would be mounted to the outside of the rack. I made the platform so that the front of it would be flush to the front of the rack (thus the reason I notched the corners of the plywood), and then I was going to screw the other piece of plywood on the face of the rack to that exposed 2x4 under the platform so I could still wrestle the ball up just like a real ledge.

I'll post pics of my home gym setup in another thread...

Updated pic with third sheet of plywood and some 2x6 boards underneath to support the weight. I just slam dunked my 230 on top of it and nothing happened. Finally got it right!
