Recently there was a post on here about iron mind straps and how slick they are. I recently got a pir and used them for the first time last night deadlifting... They were very very very slick on the bar and it made me feel very uneasy about using them... I desided to use them on my max set.... I got it half way up, just about half way and one of them slipped just a little and made me drop it.....
I wasnt really impressed. . . Luckily i brought my regular mair of straps with me and gave the weight 2 more shots but the first miss took alot out of me and i was unable to get the wight from there. So now what?? how can i getthem to not slip anymore?

Cover them in chalk - they are slick at first but after a couple of sessions they are the best straps you can use!

when i first get a new pair I spend about 15 minutes "seasoning" them. I get the roughest knurled bar in my gym and rub them on the bar like a shoeshine boy. I do this on both sides and then put chalk all over the straps and rub it on the bar some more. That usually gets most of the sheen off of them. Usually a few workouts of sweat and chalk after that and they are perfect.

Break-in problem maybe? I've never had a good experience with straps though.

I just got a pair also and was told to chalk them up (thanks to this board) and it fixed the problem. After a few sets the chalk wore off, but a rechalking and the worked great again. The "new" is wearing off them and the rechalkings are getting fewer and fewer. It would have been nice if Iron Mind had included some breaking in instructions...of course I wouldn't have read them anyway.

Jesse might be right, not that your grip isn't strong, but you probably don't want to rely on straps too much. Maybe you should rely 90% on your grip and use straps for the last 10%, just for support, so even if the straps are a bit slippery, you're still hanging onto that bar.

Get used to using straps on lighter sets or some rack pulls first before you jump in and use them on a max attempt. Not only will this break them in, but it'll also allow you to get a feel for pulling with them.

One more cheap shot..............Did you think the whole other thread about breaking them in wouldn't apply to yours? You posted the last reply on that thread. You're lucky you didn't hurt yourself.
Seriously though, you don't use or have access to chalk? I'd be lost without it. Buy some. It'll change your lifting style. Don't get crazy and buy more than 1 pound though. It doesn't sound like much, but it is enough for a long time.
My IM straps are supposed to be delivered tomorrow (along with 4 CoC's). I can't wait.....

I am about to buy another pair of short enoughs because I left mine at the gym and they are now reclaimed... at least I still have my strong enoughs. When I get the new shortie straps I am going to cut and melt them together at the ends, after using Steve's "seasoning" method.
My seasoning method revolves around sweat and chalk... but it does take some time.

Stas and I just ordered a dozen of them from ironmind, so I'm glad the rest of you affirm that they're good once broken in. I've half torn a pair of york straps in 2 weeks already, so I can't wait for them.

I got mine yesterday. They don't seem any worse than any other nylon strap. Of course, I haven't use them yet, so I could be wrong. A lot of chalk is part of my DL routine, so they should break in quickly.
