Apparently this is going on next weekend. Does anybody know anything about this or is going to either compete or watch? I don't seem to see anything about it in the contests section on this forum.
I'm doing an IFOCE chili fries contest on the queen mary in longbeach on the 17th and this fit expo is the same weekend (16-18). I'm trying to figure out if it might be worth it for me to try to stay in the area either the day before or after. . .or even to try to rush over after the eating contest is over. . .it says the strongman stuff is supposed to be 4-6 on saturday. . .my eating contest is at 1 and probably will be over at 3ish. . .so it seems possible for me to make both. Though it probably isn't the best idea to be stuffed full of chili fries and do anything except lie down :)
Anyway, hope to hear from some people that know more about this. Thanks.

All-American Strongman Challenge
Pasadena, California
February 16th - 18th, 2007
The MET-Rx All American Strongman Challenge will determine the American athletes to compete in the 2007 World’s Strongest Man Super Series. The top six athletes will receive All American Team Honors and guaranteed an invite to one of the Grand Prix stops on the 2007 WSM Super Series which is one step from qualifying for the 2007 Met-Rx World’s Strongest Man.
Format of Competition:
The MET-Rx All American Strongman Challenge has twenty (20 ) Athletes and will be contested over eight (8) Disciplines. The field of Athletes will be reduced to twelve (12) after the first four (4) Disciplines.
Athletes’ order and pairing in the first Discipline is determined by reverse order of of receipt of entry forms, and announced at the Athletes’ Rules Meeting prior to the commencement of the contest. The order in the subsequent Disciplines shall be the reverse order of OVERALL standing (not previous Discipline). Ties in the overall standing shall be broken by finish in previous Discipline.
If a Discipline is contested in pairs or groups, the “lane” assignments must be uniformly applied “odd” in left lane, “even” in right lane to the all pairs.
Scoring:
Timed Disciplines shall be hand timed, and distances shall be measured by standard measuring tapes. The score in a Discipline shall be determined by placement and based on the number of Athletes starting in the first Discipline of the contest (i.e. if there are 20 Athletes starting, the winner of a Discipline receives 20 points, and 2nd place 19 points etc.). If an Athlete pass on a Discipline or fail to get a measurable result in a Discipline, he will receive zero (0) points (i.e. fails to get one repetition in a Discipline for maximum repetitions, fails to lift the opening weight in a max lift, etc.). The score for a placement shall remain the same through an entire competition (i.e. if the score for 1st place is 20 points in the first Discipline, it will remain 20 points in subsequent Disciplines even though the field of athletes has been reduced).

I'm trying to post the update for today right now, but I'm having some trouble with updating the site. It should be up shortly.
For those of you from Wisconsin or Minnesota, you will be very pleasantly surprised with the standings.

I'm bummed I missed being able to get there. Eating contest went long and I couldn't make it Saturday. On the plus side, Kobayashi showed up at my eating contest and I got to finally meet him.
