...snapping a big ol stone onto a higher platform than last week

...realizing that your sticking point overhead just got a little less sticky

...hanging on to the farmers walk handles longer than you thought you could

...shoving over a tire taller than you

...knowing that they make cars lighter than the yoke you just carried

...having a woman who enjoys shaving your head with a Bic and thinks strongman is sexy.

...having training partners who aren't kidding when they threaten to kick your ass for pulling up short in training.

...watching the new guy drag the sled till he can't walk anymore, then come back the next week ready for more

...training stones in the summer

...ANY new piece of equipment

...truly giving 100% and having it be enough to stand on the podium at the end of the day

...waking up feeling like you just got hit by a bus, then remembering that you pulled one yesterday

...road rash on forearms

That's what I'm talking about Clay. Great thread!!!

here's a couple more...

...Looking at the look on the teenage boys faces when you take your 16yr old daughter to her first prom!

....watching your 12 year old son squat 135x5

....watching your 10 year old son clean 115lbs

....telling everyone "NO I DON'T PLAY FOOTBALL (anymore), I'M A FREAKIN STRONGMAN!!!!

But after all that said, nothing beats what Chris L says. Congrats brotha and thanks!!!!

You're now one of the biggest strength nerds I have EVER met. Geez! Happiness is Clay shutting the hell up.

...knowing that the 100kg x 22 squat you just did felt like b*tch weight, when your previous best that had you layed out looking at stars for 10 minutes, was only 90kg x 21

Happiness is

acheiving your goal that others said could not be done

knowing their are other people out their that enjoy lifting carrying and throwing stuff just to do it and that I am not completely crazy for doing

"No idea. But probably more than you."

For me happiness is my occasional neurologist/physiatrist visit when I hear "What the hell, you don't look as screwed up as you are." Ummm, sorry?

Or more recently regaining at least some articulation in my thoracic spine due to finally sucking it up and training again. And rubbing it in the docs', mom's, and friends faces that yes weight training DOES make me healthier.

...Hearing "How the hell did you do that!?" from guys 5" taller and 80lbs heavier than me.

...Squatting and deadlifting 2x my bodyweight for the first time

...Bending metal

and of course ...Setting a new PR and adding weight to or shaving time from your goal

... Having a job that gives long enough breaks and lunches to train and eat

...Training partners that know what they are doing and giving you hell until you get it right

...Pushing your physical limits

Cleaning your previous PR on a vintage York bar and iron plates after doing 20 singles progressively heavier, when the PR was "fresh" and performed on Eleiko competition bar and bumpers.

Granted, I would take a vintage 30-40 year old york weightlifting bar over a new Eleiko comp bar anyday.

A guy sees you unloading five kegs from the back of your truck and he asks, "you thirsty?" This can be answered in a number of different ways. I just said, "yeah" and walked away.
