This post is more out of frustration than anything else and my need to vent. What people will steal and do never ceases to amaze me. I live in Fort Myers, Florida and I have have had (5) kegs vandalized outside Worlds's gym where I train and a 200lbs. keg stolen. To combat the kegs being vandalized I put silicone on top of the marine washers so the tops can't be taken off and I now chain the kegs up with 1/4" steel cable and a padlock. Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine I would have to silicone and chain up heavy al. kegs.

Well yesturday while leaving for work I saw that I had a total of (4) kegs in my driveway one of which is a rubber coated keg and another weighing 280lbs. When I got home last night I noticed that (2) al. empty kegs were gone.

Before I say anymore let me say I live in pretty upscale neighboorhood and its somewhat out in the country. I have probaly a 50'-60' driveway and the kegs were right next to my garage. Someone would have to be driving by, stop, grab the kegs and throw them in either the trnk of a car or in the back seat.

This couldn't of been kids as they would have been in school. Needless to say it's not the monitary loss that upsets me ($50) its the absolute lack of respect and lack of self worth people have to try and get ahead. Not to mention all the running around I must do to replace the kegs now.

Alright I'm done venting, anyone had similar expereince in having their stuff stolen??

i haven't had anything stolen from me, but I've heard stories about friends shop lifting from stores like Target. I mean they just walk out with expensive stereo equipment, etc... For one thing, I don't know how they get away w/ it and not get caught, and two, where is their conscience? i think its terrible. im not going to rat them out though, just because i don't want to make it my business, plus i just don't do that to other people. even though I should because its totally wrong. but i truly believe in the saying "what goes around comes around." things catch up to people like that, and when they do its all over.

When we were first married, some kids (who continuously traipsed through our yard despite being asked/told/everything short of being shot at not to) stole my wife's bicycle from our yard. We were out in the sticks (Keystone Heights, for those who might know NE FL) We knew who did it (well, we knew it was these kids, but we didn't know names/where they lived/etc) but couldn't prove it, so nothing happened. No witnesses = no solution.

Sometimes I think Iran/Saudi Arabia might be on to something with the whole hand-chopping thing.

My dad's shop was broken into awhile ago. It is situated behind what at the time was an empty house. It had a steel door with 1/8" thick walls, a deadbolt and handle lock plus there is another house not 20 feet from the door where people actually live so we didn't figure people would spend the time it would take to break in. We were wrong. Someone actually took a deadblow hammer and hammered their way through the STEEL door, it was a giant crater in the door with hundred of little dents then they broke the deadbolt out of the wall and stole my dads laptop and some financial documents. Cops didn't do anything but say(and this is verbatum) "Tough luck, should've bought a stronger door" and the old lady that lived twenty feet away saw the guy bashing the door in but only said he was a bald guy with a hammer and went back to her dinner.

A couple of months ago an inmate came into the prison and he had a strange name. I asked him if he was related to another man with the same name, he said yes but I won't admit that in public, I asked why and he went on to say that he was a piece of crap because he is a thief that steals from family, he went on to say that he would rob his own mother at gun point unlike himself who is a real criminal he robs people he don't know and in other towns because he is a stand up guy he doesn't want to hurt his freinds and family like that. I looked at him and said wow what a class act you are.

wayne, don't kid your self. it could have been older kids or a group of kids that did not go to school that day. but your most likely right that it wasn't kids. people will steal any thing to pawn for alcohol or drugs "including kegs". I know that things have sure changed from when i lived in sarasota. Time to get a "BFD" BIG F--KING DOG. But any way bro i'm sorry you became a victim of crime.

Rod,
You are so right people will steal ANYTHING to support there drug or alcohol habit. There actually was a news article in the local paper about people going around stealing al. kegs from bars to reclaim the al.

I must admit I am from the midwest (born and raised) and I am not use to the transient problem I see in Florida. When I drive into work in the morning Hwy 41 is literally litered with bumbs sleeping on the sidewalk.

I guess sleeping outside when it's 20 below isn't too appealing. On a lighter not these pukes wimps didn't touch the 280lbs. keg! ha ha ha ha.... :D:

Hmmmm... seems to be a serial keg-thief at loose in FLA.

Seriously though, there's few worse feelings than having something of yours stolen or vandalized. So bloody infuriating. Hope you manage to replace them OK.

Lock your stuff inside,or lock it together asap.I used to have all of my event equipment in the yard at my mom's house. She lives in the country, and I leave my plates in the grass where no one can see them.I came home from work one day to find that all of my plates had been stolen.I HATE thievery(big or small),and would love to get my hands on someone that I caught steeling from me.
People steal all kinds of metal and scrap it out.Thats probably what happened to your kegs.Ive even heard of people in my small town cutting down metal light polls from shopping centers to scrap for cash. You might ask around at your local scrap yard.I know that the scrap yard owners around here cant stand people who pull this crap, and do what they can to help bust the people doing it.

You are forgetting all the stoner/drop outs who will steal it just because they think it will be a nice accessory to their room, right next to the stop sign on the room, hell I have to lock my keg up but I can leave any other piece of equipment on the yard in between the sidewalk and the street and the only thing that will happen is the occasional person yelling at me to lift it above my head, the keg stays locked up though as I had about 10 teens "inquire" about it on its way from my front yard to the locked shed.

I had a 225, 250 and 275 keg stolen out of the back of my truck a few years ago when I live in Springfield. I had to keep them there because the gym didn't want us to leave them there (YMCA).

I did live downtown in a loft, so the truck was in a public parking lot. I would have loved to see the faces of the guys when they got them home and tried to tap into them, LOL.

Hate to say it man, but it is your business...your theiving "friends" take a little money out of your pocket every time they do it. next time you shell out a few more bucks for your stereo or whatever....you can thank them. they also take with them a little peice of your self respect making you say things like, "i dont want to make it my business". not a bash on you man or anything like that, its a normal human reaction to crime, i just get tired of hearing it since those same lines often tie my hands at work when i have a bonafide criminal in custody and need a little help from some citizen.

lots of bums out here too man. i have made it my mission to arrest them for any/everything i can....i am tired of looking at them, smelling them, looking at their litter, and taking stupid reports for the things they steal!

tweakers baby! they scrap everything. the only people in the world who have the time to melt/strip the rubber off of 5000ft of wire so they can scrap the copper inside. when you dont sleep, may as well steal and strip wire! i HATE them!!!! :EP:

Who the hell would steal a heavy ass keg? I just can't imagine spiked up meth addicts running around looking for sand-filled kegs to steal...just boggles my mind when there is plenty of other stuff around. Got to be more to the story then what we know. Try to catch them on surveillance or something...use a pretty shiny keg as bait....haha

Weird stuff.

Ryan, I have to say I think you are spot on. I can't stand people who steal big or small. People who steal are just too damn lazy to get off there a** and earn it the right way. And people stealing at department stores effects us all. If you have "friends" who you know steal perhaps it's time to look for new friends.

Guess you punks shouldn't have been on my property - enjoy the cane.

Don't you Southerners all have shotguns? Put the smallest size bbs cartrige and aim for the legs... :EP: Once he's on the floor, kick him in the nutz for all of us.

I got all of my training gear stolen last week: 2 duffle bags in my 4x4's trunk. The loser busted my window, dented my rear fender while jumping inside of my truck thru the window... I was right downtown and this happenned around 10:30am. I'm insured and all, but it's such a hassle to replace everything. Anyways, Jackals and Inzer got 2 new orders :)

I once had my car broken into and about a grand worth of car stereo stuff stolen (I used to be a huge audio freak), including about 200 CDs. They smashed in through the T-top so I had to drive to several junkyards looking for one that would fit. The irony is that I was a security guard at the time but didn't park my car where I could see it...

I sometimes worry about theft because my big tires are clearly visible from the street and there is just a padlock and chain keeping them there. Any motivated person with a pair of bolt cutters could wind up rolling my tires down the street and into the side of someone's house. And guess who would be responsible? Me.

I've had plenty of stuff stolen from me, and come home from work or long weekends several times to find a back door or window tampered with. But that hasn't happened since I moved here.

You can take some pleasure in the fact that the dinks who stole your sand-filled kegs must have thought they stumbled onto a goldmine until they got to the scrap center and realized that they weren't going to get as much for them. Plus, there's the whole "burning in hell with razor sharp pokers in their anuses" thing to remember.

Reminds me of an incident that happened in my hometown. A guy was parked in the lot of a bar/restaurant/almost club and a pool hall with his jeep with new tires and rims. Somebody stole his wheels, but were at least considerate enough to replace them with what I assume were their own old ones. So the guy was missing his new stuff, but at least he could still drive around.

I had a real nice fishing set up stolen from my old truck, it was a gift and heirloom from my late father in law a few years before he died, I think I had a harder time telling him that the asking for his blessing to marry his daughter! The worst is I knew who did it but could prove it. Anyway, entertain yourself with the image of them either 1) Trying to tap it or 2) Peeling it only to find it full of sand or concrete

i remember once when i was a kid my dad was having ploblems with someone stealing gas from his truck. So one night dad said "i'm going to fix those little bast%*&s". So some how he electrified the truck. The next morning he came back in the house laughing. His truck was not missing any gas and the gas cap was lying on the ground. we never had any more problems for a while.
