Just signed up. I have been slacking lately in the weightroom and need motivation so hopefully I've come to the right place. I don't compete but workout mainly for sports. I played college football and did some competitive weightlifting (clean and jerk and snatch).
My numbers:
I'm 6'1"-2" and fluxuate weight around 240-255 pounds.
All weight is done raw with no belt, just shorts, T-shirt and sometimes tennis shoes:
Squat: 540-560 (Haven't maxed out in a while but rep 500 4-6 reps)
Bench: 440
Deadlift: 495
Clean: 330
Snatch: 235 (I just leaned how to do this about 1 1/2 yrs ago but haven't been consistent)They kicked me out of the gym that had olympic plates because it scared the old people so I haven't been doing much lately.
All lifts are during or after workout.
I run about 3-4 miles every other day and practice on Tuesday and Thursday (work permitting). My 40 yd dash is 4.6 (timed yesterday). I don't know my vertical but I can touch the top of the backboard, barely.
I haven't lost any strength but I just can't seem to get motivated in the gym. The other thing is no matter how hard I lift and increase lifts I still look the same. If I had a picture you would have major doubts of my claimed lifts.
I just need to get motivated again and after seeing some of Jesse's videos this looks like a good place to start. Don't take this the wrong way but, Jesse, I am hoping to pass you up. It will take a while but something to aim for. Hopefully this will motivate me to lift more and actually try in the weightroom (and not get banned).
Sorry for the long post but needed to vent.

welcome aboard my man! if you plan to pass me up, and I hope you do, you better find some motivation! I've never lacked any myself, and I atribute my success to mastering self motivation.

Write out your goals and next to each goal write out what it would take to achieve it. Write out the hardships that you will face during the acquisition of each goal. Next write out how you would feel if you reached each goal. Now compare the pain of attempting to reach the goal with the pleasure of actually making it a reality. This is a good way to start realizing how bad you want something and it sometimes makes the involvedness less daunting while also creating a great deal of desire to acquire.

be strong!

Jesse
