Matt,
I have some bad news for you. This forum does not offer a prize to the person who starts the most threads.

I like his quote about Odd:
Odd is my all time favorite strongman. I’ve heard people say, “I hope I’m that strong when I’m his age.” I just think ya right dude… You’ll never be that strong EVER!

I think what jesse said about the big z, was a bit disrespectful.
I would much rather watch the big z shatter records and come back out onto the stage and break a world record just for the fans, as opposed to a crappy strongman who just throws his t-shirt into the crowd.
I think theres too much but licking going on at the minute on this site, and the true facts are getting missed.

My hope is that 33 years from now is enough time to get that strong.

Maybe big Z doesn't have the best physique to be marketable. Since he's not being used by any of the big supplement companies to market their stuff it seems to be true. However, I think going to a forum provided for free to it's members and insulting the one footing the bill is just a tad more disrespectful than Jesse's comments about big Z.

HAHA Paul . . . True, true... i do start alot of threads dont i? I get really board at work and i honestly have nothing better to do lol Maybe when i get my new job (hopefully) i'll have better things to do . . .
and from the way this post is going. . . maybe it was one to many lol
I didnt mean to start a big argument or insult festival with this thread. . . . I just appreciated the honesty in the interview. Not common that you get the honest opinion from someone opposed to a fake politically correct nice answer....
I personally am a fan of Jesse and Savickas equally, they both have there own unique things that make them both great strongman

Does anyone else think that Zydrunas could market beer? I mean, he has the sort of physique an any-man can relate to. Like, "Hey, he's fat like me, maybe I can be strong like him!"

Fat Guy Mistakenly Thought Of As Strong
March 16, 2007
FORT LAUDERDALE, FL—Due to his sheer mass, Derek "Moose" Glass, 26, is considered by his friends and relatives to be "stronger than an ox," when in actuality the 5-foot-7, 275-pound bartender is just fat.
"I bet that guy can lift that desk over his head," friend Hank Ebbert, 27, said of Glass, who at that moment was lying on his couch finishing his fifth bag of Combos while watching Spike TV's Pros Vs. Joes. "Man, I bounced right off of Moose during a collision at home plate last summer. That guy is solid muscle after you get past all that [fat]."
Ebbert went on to say that Glass was deceptively intelligent, though, in fact, the morbidly obese Glass has a below-average IQ, and is just quiet.

I have to say I think those comments about Savickas were "poorly chosen" and could easilly be seen as disrespectful.
Savickas entertains the crowd by breaking world records and winning contests. I was in the crowd at the Arnold last year when Savickas was smashing records all weekend, and I saw the awe-struck looks on people's faces when he was doing it.

gimme a break guys... talk about over sensative. how do you even tolerate lactic acid buildup with such high level of sensativity? I was asked for my opinion and I gave it honestly. In fact, I did nothing more than offer fact. What I said is true. Disrespectful, whatever... you think he cares what I say? I highly doubt he would be offended by what I said, so you certainly shouldn't be. you think he doesn't make the decision to be massive in search of bigger numbers? He's a brilliant strength athlete and has chosen his course inteligently based on what he sees best for himself. He dominates, so obviously he has chosen right. He would have crushed me at the Arnold and probably laughed at me for being too skinny to hang with the big boys. Would I be insulted by that? nope. he'd be right...
For the record, I was on stage at the Arnold serving as master of ceremonies and those that were there can attest to the extent of the flattery that I threw at big Z. I wasn't dishonest in doing so and my own words to the masses prove how much respect I have for the man. He is a consistant winner in a sport that is amazingly hard to be be and stay top dog. Cheers to big Z!

Honestly, to get to the level these guys compete at you don't have to be just physically tough, but mentally tough. And that involves being honest with yourself about yourself.
If yall think anything jesse said about any of these guys is something they don't already know about themselves, then you probably need to adjust your thinking.
What Jesse said about Z isn't anything he already doesn't know. And I doubt Z would take it as an insult. Do you know why? Among the most successfully marketed/marketable strongman are guys like Nathan Jones. He's been in a lot of high-exposure movies recently in case yall haven't noticed. But what did he do as a strongman? Not very much.
Being called not very marketable isn't really an insult if you aren't trying to be marketable...

I didn't sense anything disrespectful in Jesses comments, as Jesse said he was asked his OPINION we can disagree with it if we like. Its like asking the offense vs. defense question in football, we all have opinions and opinions are like *****les we all have them, not everyone agrees. I think that Jesse, Don Pope, Phil Pfister, Kevin Nee, Dave Ostland and Travis Ortmayer (sp?) are the future of strongman. We Americans had our time in the beginning, the Northern Europeans had their time, then the eastern Europeans had theirs and now it is back to U.S.. But that is my OPINION you don't have to agree.

Im sure Savickas doesnt care what anyone thinks nor does he care about not being marketable...what was said was all true about him not being marketable....but It's not called Lean Man or Marketable Man..its called Strongman for a reason...which he obviously fits the title of.

I found the Savikas comments pretty interesting, as I talked to Benni Magnusson online a few weeks ago about Big Z. He said that Savikas is the real funniest guy out there, a true character, but his humour is misunderstood.
Either way, he's a BEAST.

Fair enough Jesse, I can accept you did not mean any disrespect.
I still think it was wrong to say he has the "personality of a goldfish" though, and surely you must understand why some people think that is unfair?
How well would your personality get over to the crowd if you had to give your comments and interviews in Lithuanian or Russian?

Maybe they just really like goldfish Jesse. I think what needs to be addressed is the fact that what you said about Zydrunas is rude to fish. I can't believe that you could say on an open forum that a fish could have the personality of a Zydrunas. I am saddened by this disrespect for our underwater allies. Sad day in history. :BB:

Theres only one way to resolve this...
Jesse Marunde and Big Z in a steel cage match or on PPV in the octagon...
