It happens to me all winter long. This has happened for about 15 years. I have'nt found anything that helps yet.

Yep. Dremel them and lotion up like a proctologist when it gets bad.

That happens to me in the summer a lot for some reason. Also, make sure to wash your hands when you get back form the gym if you aren't showering...get all the chalk and whatnot off.

Ya I definitely lotion them up, but I look like a weirdo right now with my fingers peeling all over.

My junior high art teacher had to retire after learning she was allergic to chalk. that's what we were told anyway. Not sure if that's what this is, or even if you actually can be allergic to chalk, but something to think about.

I think it's acombination of the chalk drying the skin and the abrasion from knurling. As others have said, wash well and use lotion.

Dude, I had it so bad for like two months it was nuts. Im not going to go into detail, but it looked like I was infected w/ some odd strain of turkey flu virus or something. You have to see a doc and they'll give you a good perscription to combat it and take really, really, really good care of your hands. Even with the perscription its still tough because your constantly handling things throughout the day w/ bacteria and germs.

Good luck

The palms of my hands between the middle below the fingers and right above the wrist get real dry, as well as my fingers peeling. I do what others have said about using lotion and seems to work.

If you can find it use SBS-40 hand cream it is medicated to prevent allergic reactions and absorbs quickly. Most industries where you are working in extremely drying conditions give it to their employees to prevent chapping.(paper mills, canneries.)

My wife got her BA in ceramics(pottery). They used to really grease up like mad and then put socks on your hands before yo go to bed. We use Palmers cocoa butter. It's what my burn doctor said to use after a car accident.

Try working from the inside out...Lotion is good, but Udo's oil seemed to help me.
