First read this thread http://www.irongodz.com/irongod/showthread.php?t=1845&page=1&pp=10 . There is profanity in the post, so if that offends you skip it...

It was my idea to 'sponsor' Max last year. Many of you were very generious in donating to the cause. I aperently used poor judgement. I'm sorry for prompting you to put money towards an unthankful recipiant.

I would like to do it again though but I will let all of you decide who we sponsor. I'll start another thread soon.

Jesse-

I do not believe anyone would expect an apology for that, although it is honorable. You did what you felt was right to give someone a "hand up". Don't lose heart because of the choices other people make.

You did lots for him Jesse...but he messed it up..
I like the idea of the board members choosing who to sponsor...

btw-How old is your grandpa? haha

Jesse man, you can't beat yourself up over crap like that. Some people think the world owes them everything. He was given plenty of chances and people believed he might be appreciative, even though that now seems to be impossible for him. I can't imagine all these cool guys up here pitching money together to help somebody train. It says a lot about the community.

Did I see that Dan got banned too? Since when did the mods get homophobic?*

*That was my attempt to defend Dan's honor. Sorry bud! hehe

He screwed it up himself, Jesse. This forum did a lot for him and he hasn't seen it that way. You've got a lot to offer, and for him to show the disrespect he did displays to everyone that he wasn't worth it. It was a learning experience, for sure, but don't let it get you down.

Personally I like Max. Could anyone ever see that he has taken a lot of crap from faceless people over time. I mean how many people could survive spoof videos, constant insults, and fake porn pics made of them.

Did you ever think that he might feel alieniated now... seriously I thought the "should Max be banned" thread was a joke...until he left. I'd feel like crap if there was a serious thread about me of whether or not I should be banned. Max is a human, regardless if he is well known on the internet.

I sent $100.00 to help Max compete at Washington. Some may say a waste, but I thought it would do him well to hang with Jesse, Robbie, and the others.

Max may have a chip on his shoulder, but we all know it's a chip that's been put there by others having fun at his expense.

Max shouldn't talk crap about MM, but I look at it more like a reflex rather then sincere.

and yeah Max.....quit letting your emotions get the best of you and burn bridges. A lot of people like you. Jesse understood you and tried to help you out, he loves you too. You left on your own because 75% of the votes wanted you gone. Some may have been joke votes, others real, but you are not one to run from resistance....so I wonder why you left this time.

Guy's, I dont post much but have followed the whole Max Misch saga. When I just read that you not only got the funds to fly him out, provided a hotel and then to have your grandparents provide transportation and he shows no respect it's almost sickining. What a little punk! Jesse this is a great site, it is extremly hard to have a forum that allows discussions without getting to off topic/innapropriate and yourself and the moderators do a great job. Time to forget about him and if you choose to take the time to organize another oppurtunity like that hopefully the one chossen will appreciate it.

Garrick, thank you for your post. You are a class act. And I agree with you. I saw alot of clowns messing with Max which is why I stuck up for him in the very begining. I still like him. Like alot of guys who get carried away with internet trash talking, he's a cool dude. He trains very hard with super intensity and gets stronger every week. That's about all you gotta do to earn my respect...

Andrew, I'm not beating myself bro. I just felt like saying sorry cause cool bros like Garrick donated their hard earned cash to help him out and now he's bashing em so I felt bad. No worries!

Good deal man. I'm not sure what this whole sponsorship thing is that you and some of the other members were talking about, but let me know if I can do anything. I'm a broke college student, but I'll see what I can add.

Jesse,

For what it's worth, I don't think you have anything to apologize for.

You acted with a lot of class and genuine empathetic concern. You tried to do something nice for a guy who was getting picked on in an effort to give him a "leg up" (because you saw genuine potential in him).

Sadly, it looks as if he lacked the wisdom and gratitude to take advantage of your "gift".

Hell, if a world class athlete had "taken me under his wing" and offered to help pay my way into competitions when I was Max's age, I would have been in seventh heaven.

Hopefully one day in the near future, when Max has had a chance to mature a bit, your "investment" will still pay off.

i armwrestled for 14 years and nobody ever took up a collection for me.
that guy should be thankful that many people on this site thought that well of him.
your a good man jesse, hey i was banned once, rules are rules i served my suspension and came back, nuff said.
this is a great site, and like my dad used to tell me anybody can use vulgar language to make their point and make them look big and bad, he would always tell me that every time i felt like cussing to invert some shakespeare in it's place.
well you know i told him to go **** himself but i got his point

I still think you did the right thing, Jesse. It was a classy move sending Max to WA and even though alot of us thought you were crazy for doing it, he will be better off because of it.

Hey, I will be posting on Max's behalf:

" I apologize to the people who donated money for my trip to WA. I truly appreciate the generosity that you guys had when you did that. However, I still believe that the best thing for me to do was leave Marunde-Muscle and possibly all message boards in general, at least for a while. When the majority of people want me gone, that's a sign that maybe I should leave, you know? Anyway, Jesse, thanks for everything you did for me; I never meant to make you look bad or seem like an ingrate. You know that I'm a good person when people aren't constantly dumping on me, like when we met in person on two occasions; those were good times. If there are people here who still don't hate me too much and are curious about my progress and my workouts, this is where I will be maintaining my training journal: http://maxbm.blogspot.com/ "

I tried to be an advocate for Max as well... I did crack jokes about his form, but every time I did, I would afterwards let him know I was just busting stones... and apparently he got it, because up until this whole incident he thought I was a "good guy" (his words, not mine). I introduced him to this forum, gave him tips on how to improve his deadlift (and was even polite about it, because I knew what he'd been through on the other boards), even kept my yap shut when he took those same tips and gave them to others on this board without crediting the source of those tips. I did my best to help the guy because I was genuinely interested in how far he could go.

I was critical of one thing, and he burned a bridge with me over it. He improved as a lifter when he stopped and listened to criticism about his form. I wonder if the same would ring true about the way he treats others.

I don't have time in my life for "friends" like that...

Where did Max's post go? Banned again? I can agree with banning someone who creates too much work for the mods, but to hear some things that some people are saying about him just hurts. I'm not saying it isn't true because I don't know. All my opinions of Max have been formed since the day I MET him which was a few months ago. He is a hard-worker who is fueled by passion for this sport and the iron lifestyle. He served his country and is now a college student. He trains with me sometimes in Hempstead and is grateful for the opportunity. He probably listens to more advice than he gives, such is the nature of a good strongman. That's all I know about him. None of these are bad things.
