What's everybody's favorite lift? Either gym lift or event, and how do you guys train it? Figured it should be an interesting subject...

Log Press. I train it on shoulder day and occasionally on an events day.

I generally like pressing of all sorts ... I try to alternate between DBs, barbells, push, strict, C & J etc. but usually do some sorts of pressing 2-3x a week.

A deep back squat.

It is in my mind the most manly lift. Yes, you can argue that the deadlift is a greater test of strength, but there is something absolutely primal about having a weight on your back that would crush most men. I see it as a battle, me versus the iron and I will only win if I show the bar no mercy.

Sure some may think I'm being over dramatic about the squat, but to me, doing a heavy squat is modern man's version of slaying the dragon or winning the war. Sometimes I feel I learn more about myself when I'm squatting, than I do anywhere else.

Sandbag clean.

I love the feeling of the deadweight crushing down on my chest and knowing that discomfort is because my lift was successful.

I can't weight to clean a 300 lb sandbag.
