I just noticed that there have been something just over 99,000 total posts here. Is there going to be a special prize for whoever makes the 100,000th post?

(Yes, this is what I'm doing at a quarter after 3 in the morning, rather than just finishing my homework and going to bed. How lame is that?)

I suggest a plane ticket to a strongman comp in WA.

Hmm...I went to quote an earlierpost on this, and it said that, for example, Jesse's post above is post # 104020 and the one that started this thread was # 103960. I guess this takes into account deleted posts? So if there's a way to account for the number of deleted posts, apparently the site tracks it for you.

Hello, I found the 100,000th post. It was posted by Kevin Klavetter. It is post number 8 in this (http://www.marunde-muscle.com/forum/showthread.php?t=6726) thread. :)

wooh! you said everything I wanted to say. The only difference between us is that I was a nearly successful athlete lol. What has consistently drawn me to strongman is the fact that of all the lifting disciplines this is the one I think has the most crossover to general conditioning for the athlete, albeit with much heavier weights. And I've always been a lot better at the general conditioning and weight training part of athletics than actually performing on the field. Which is why being invited to walk on was closely followed by being invited to walk off.

You can hear the excitement in Kaz's voice when he talks about explosive athletes in dynamic events. And that's exactly the way I feel. I think max weight events have their place, as do static hold events. But for me the thing that really gets me about strongman is that it tests overall athleticism more than any other discipline out there.
