I have about 1 hr before my cab leaves for the airport. There is a computer center in the lobby.

I placed 7th out of 12 yesterday. It was good that I did a U.S. contest last weekend because now I know exactly how much long travel affects me.

Six events total:

TIRE FLIP: This sucked for me and it is usually a very good event. The tires were light but I struggled to find grips. It is the same tire they have in every east europe country where there are no knobs all the way around. I thought I could just grab in the middle every time because of my height and it ended up costing a lot of time just looking for tread. I was 10th in this with 40 sec. Most guys were in the 36-39 range and winning time was 33 or 34.

LOG LIFT: It was clean every rep and the weight was 286 lbs. This is where I could tell the difference from last week the most. I only got 1 repetition and the press was very hard. I had no balance and no leg drive. 300 felt really easy last weekend and the logs were not much different. At least I didn't get last though since Franz Mullner got 0. Pedan did 8 or 9. Pekanov was impressive as hell and did 10 all of them strict presses.

MEDLEY: The medley was a car flip for 2 full flips and then Thor's hammer like from the Arnold except with no locking mechanism to prevent is from coming down. The car did not roll on its own so each flip was like 4 deadlifts. I finished in 44 sec which was good enough for 2nd. Pedan beat me with 37 sec. Starov and Pekanov were both around 50 and everyone else was 1:10+.

HIGH THROW: We used a 24kg kettlebell for this. First height was 3.80 meters and everyone but Raymon Merckx made this height. Next height was 4.10 meters and 5 guys failed and 6 of us moved on including myself. I failed the next height and the other five made it and the next height. I think only Pekanov made 5 meters. Of the 6 of us who moved on, Starov was the most impressive because of his lack of height. 6th place in this.

TRUCK PULL: This was another event like the tire in which I expected a very good result and was disappointed. It was ladder set-up like the 2003 WSM. I got off to a very fast start, but then I naturally started to stride out a bit which is very bad on the ladder since you start stepping in the middle of two rungs and lose momentum very fast. 11th out of 12 in this.

POWER STAIRS: It was five stairs and the weights were 385lbs, 495lbs, and 605 lbs. Only Starov did all 15 stairs (again very impressive because of his height). Igor Pedan and I were 2nd with 14 stairs, I was very close on 15. Tordocev (a 20yr old Bulgarian) and the Russian who got 4th overall did 13 stairs. The aforementioned Russian looks like a taller Andy Feidler and has a 275kg bench, 360kg deadlift and squat and is 25 yrs old.

The good finish in stairs got me back up to 7th and very close to 6th. If I had not royally botched tire and truck and just placed in the middle of both I could have been 5th.

1st- Igor Pedan (No one else was close. He was 1st in 3 events and 2nd in the other 3).
2nd- Michael Starov
3rd- Pekanov
4th- Russian Andy Fiedler
5th- another Russian
6th- Milan Jovanovic
7th-me
8th- Labomir? from Poland
9th-Stojan Tordocev
10th-Boris Milosivec
11th- Franz Mullner
12th- Raymon Merckx

I obviously did not set out to get 7th so I am not that happy, but it is still my best result in East Europe and I didn't get dead last in any event. I am looking forward to meeting these guys and the World Cup guys in Canada later this year.

Dave,
Great job, I honestly don't know how you guys can compete in contests that close together? I saw the video Jesse put up of the super series and I saw your tricks on the stones, unbelievable! I'm glad I'm not the only one that has had a bad day on tires. Chad's tire is pretty close to the ones you use over in europe and i hate them! Going to have to get one though if other conests have that type of tire. Great job though.
Just as a note Tony's show is going to be a PRO-AM and we are having the 1100 lb tire with the frame as a medley. yippee! Have a safe trip back.

Yes, very good showing. Most people don't know how hard it is to compete after 14+ hours of travel, strange food, ect.... but to do international level shows back to back is amazing. The fact that you were competitive and walked away under you own power is better than I can say for myself.

Keep up the great work.

Every contest is a learning experience.

Odd told me that he is very proud of you for sticking your balls out and testing yourself in unfamiliar situations and I think you are awesome whatever happens, dude.
