All the reps were as low as possible. The last set at 770 completely wiped me out. I had nothing left in the gas tank afterwards.

Training complete until Sunday July 24th when I compete in the Lift for the Kids Strongman contest in Cottage Grove, Minnesota.

Lift For the Kids Strongman Contest

Conans Wheel:
The weight was approximately 530lbs. the weight was fairly light and I didnt have any trouble with the pick up. However the turrain was in a field and walking with the weight seemed a little awkward at time. I didnt want to loose my footing and drop the weight because the basket would have dug into the dirt and been tough to dig out so I opted for steadyness.
I finished the revolution in 15.32 seconds which placed me in 4th place after the first event. I need to improve on my technique on where to hold the weight in the arms.

Log Press:
the weight for the Heavy Weights was 250lbs on a 13" diameter log. Each repition had to be cleaned and pressed. The first repition went up very easily but I had a lot of trouble stabalizing the weight due to the uneven terrain we were on. The second rep went up very easily as well but had trouble finding level ground to stabalize on. I finished with 2 reps and was good enough for 3rd in this event. The winning rep count was 4 reps, second was 3 reps.

Car Dead lift and Hold:
The diameter of the handles was extremely narrow and incredibly difficult to hold. Im guessing the diameter was 1/4" in diameter. Going into this event I thought I had a legitimate chance of winning this event. I held the weight for only 3.8 seconds which was good enough for 3rd. The winning time was 9 seconds.

Overhead throw:
The weight was 56lbs. I had never trained for this event nor had I ever touched the emplement before this contest. I finsihed the event clearing 11' i finished 4th in this event.

Caber Bar Toss:
This is another event I had never trained before the contest. There was a qualifying Caber that was 75lbs. The larger Caber was very difficult to balance and stabalize. I ended up finishing 3rd in this event and was happy to do.

I finished 3rd overall in the HWY Division and was please overall with my performance. Need to improve in some area but overall was pleased. The heat and humidity took a real toll on me I was exhausted after the contest.

After a three week hiatus from training I resumed gym lifting today on 8-15-2005. Lost 20lbs. and ive lost strenth as well. Taking a lot of protein and Methyl-1T. to gain back some size and strenth. With that said my first day back was as follows.

Day off from training. Continue to eat like a starved Hyenna in a attempt go gain some size by September 10th (Midwest Championships). Gained 15lbs. in the last week! Presently holding at a svelt 275lbs. Want to gain another 20lbs. in the next (3) weeks.

Hey Ben, yes I did it wasnt a planed thing, just had a lot of stuff going on but I'm back training now. You competing in February at North Metro II? Planning the events now, going to be a good time.

Did fairly heavy Squats yesturday and my legs are burning today, Went as low as I possibly could of while doing Squats. Really feel it in my glutes today. One more day of gym lifting this week (Friday August 26th, 2005). Going to emplement train Saturday the 27th. :D:
