I see how you are... I'm not good enough to consult.
If you are having limited range of motion and weakness, you may want to get in and have it looked at. If you do get examined, please make sue they X-ray your thumb before they actually start moving it around.
The thumb is the most delicate of all the "fingers"... as it has 3 ligaments involved in it's motion. If you have a fracture, it may need to be reduced. The pinch grip could be permanently dameged if you don't take precautions.
More then likely it is just a simple sprain... but in the thumb we have a tendency to be very cautious due to the long term ramifications.
Hope all is well and let me know if you need any help.

Dr. Jay
here is the deal give me a diagnosis.
Full ROM in knuckle, bruising under nial, and opposite side. It can handle pressure on the sides but hurts like hell if pressure is put on the nail or opposite side of nail.. the entire thumb is swollen, particularlly distal portion.. funny thing is that the bruises really dont hurt, just looks bad...
well????

Sounds good... no joint involvement. I was worried when I heard limited Range of motion!
Sounds like you just have a deep contusion. Even if you fractured the distal phalange... the treatment would not change... just symptomatic treatment for pain and inflamation.
An x-ray would be helpful... but treatment would be cast depending on extent of fracture.
Hope are you well. great Job at the Wash state! Very proud of you! PRoud to hear how well Jess is doing also!
Let me know if you need anything. My phone number is the same even after the big move! 360-452-1634.

THE thum is gettting better!! I have been taping it with athletic tape, but the tape didnt seem to get the top spot really well... Yesterday my sweet client Cathy who also has a broken thumb gave me this other type of wrap. Its kind of like ace bandage, but little thinner and sticky.. anyway it put compresrrion right in the area that I hurt. After wearing it a few hours swelling went down... Iam able to put a bit more pressure on it too!! Thanks Cathy!!!!
I am still taking it easy on oly lifts though, as to not make matters worse... Also I would hate to teach myself any other bad oly habbits as I have enough already!!haha
Thanks jay for the advice. Also since youlive closer I am ever gonna see you on sats for training... If youdont show up I will tell Kim on you!!
Marshall, not dead yet, but you'll be the first to know!! haha

Thanks for the compliment Jay, but Im not really smart, when you look as good as I do you dont have to be smart. :M: And Im not really sure I "treat" as much as I just fill them with formaldehyde. wooohoooo!

What a load off my shoulders.... I didn't want to have to tell you about the stinkiness... (is that a word? Well if not, it just became one!)
Sounds like the thumb is coming along... you may have fracturedit... but like I said... the treatment would be the same most likely.
Marshall, You're right... When WE look as good as WE do... who needs to be smart... But what and added bonus to the lucky gals that ended up with us! :B:
HEy where are those tires located? DO you know the size and weight?
