In response to Derek's comments I am going to post a write up real quick...sorry it's so late.

First off let me say how awesome this venue and the people were at this show!!! This is the first time I have truly felt like a professional athlete...free food...good rooms..and just a lot of general ammenities provided to us by the mohegan sun and wsmss. I was extremly nervous going into this show as I have never been at this high of a level before so naturally there was a little vomiting before the show hahahahaha!

1: Yoke 400kgx90ft- I was set to go toward the end so I felt pretty good about that...in Pasadena I did the same weight for 80ft in 25 secs so I was nervous that I would get that same crappy time but on this one I set up and SMASHED it and got 16sec!!!! A 9 sec PR!!! Of course I just about crapped my pants running around the arena screaming! To let you know the level of competition that time was good for like 5-6th place Marius did the run in 11.9, and Hollands was right behind that :F:

2: Viking Press- 330?x reps- Not known for my good pressing I seriously thought I might zero this especially since we weren't allowed to jerk...but I went out and got 6 reps...most guys were in the 7-9 range of course M smashed 12.

3: Stones-280-420- I am a really good stone loader so I was very confident in this...WAY to confident...I didn't put any extra tacky on the backside of my hand because to be honest I was very cocky about this...BIG MISTAKE....got to the last stone and had no tacky left and had to leave the 420 (an easy stone for me) on the ground. No one loaded all 6 and my time was good for 3rd (25.6) Marius (25.4) Kevin (25). Next time I'll try not to be that cocky even if it is a good event for me...live and learn. After this event they cut 2 athletes.

4: Car Deadlift (side handles) (750-800?)- Again my style of training in the past hasn't really suited heavy shows...but as of late (2 months) I have been training heavier and started deadlifting again...so I was happy that I went out and pulled 12 (I was shooting for 8) . Seriously Darren Sadler is a FREAK SHOW!!!!!!!! At 250lbs bw this cat pulled 21 friggin reps like he was playing with it! Don't know what my placing was on this but they cut 2 more athletes and I wasn't one of them so again I was happy about that!

5: Hercules Hold- BLAHHHHH! I really need to work on this....23ish secs...most were 24-30. Nuff said.

6: Medley 800lb tirex5flips, 800lb framex50ft- FINALLY something my style of training gets me ready for! Hahahahahahaha! Smoked the tire and being very worried about the frame (couldn't budge the one in CA, and again the whole grip thing) I was extremely suprised/happy when I smashed it as well no drops and moved pretty quickly!

So I ended up taking 7th...wish I had a higher placing but I guess I can't be upset that I PR'ed every event...hahahahahaha...ask anyone that was there you wouldn't have known I was in 7th by the way I was acting I WAS FREAKING HAPPY...I'm the kind of person that loses it when I PR (and apparently when I miss lifts too, see:snatch video) so there wsa a lot of that at this show! I am glad that I have started to train heavier as I believe that these shows (HEAVY AND FAST) are the future of strongman so I hope that I will be better in the near future. Plus now I have to gain some weight....Kevin Nee outweighs me and that is just sad (he has stick legs!) :T: So big things should be coming from the DuB soon. I can't say enough about the management/staff team at the Mohegan/WSMSS these people are spot on! Jepser is freaking cool and really seems to respect the athletes and cares what you want, need, etc.... And congrats to all the athletes there...these guys are nothing short of world class and I hope to compete more with them in the future. (Watch out for Jason Bergman, Kevin Nee, and Louis-Phillipe in the future these guys are young and freaky strong) Also never to be outdone Odd was awesome! And thanks to Dione for coming out and showing her support! Thanks for reading

P.S. I'll be honest..I'm not usually this way but I was a little star struck when I was eating dinner and Kaz, Svend, and Joko all sat down at the table! And Terry Hollands is enormous!

You did an awesome job bro and your enthausim really showed. I really like and subscribe to the same philosophy that you do... beat yourself in a contest each and every time and eventually that will take care of the competition. Of course beign that I'm only doing my first one this June I have no where to go but up! I'll be thrilled if I reach the super freak category that you have already hit :YR: GREAT JOB!!!

Great job Marshall! Sounds like the pressure of a bigger show fueled some good PR's. I'm sure you'll be at a few more of these very soon.

Marshall, thanks for the writeup, definitely interesting to hear the behind-the-scenes stuff, especially since i was there to see it first hand. I was impressed with your performance...

but why no mention about tripping over the little 2x4s that separated the lanes? :T:

Sorry Marshall, that made me laugh all over again. You were a great sport though, just couldn't get away from those damn things.

You did an awesome job man.... I got a good picture of you on my write up if you want to check it out.

I actually got a chance to fool around with the equipment that was used at mohegan last night at the strongman gym that its kept at.

The yoke actually took me 16seconds as well...... That is 16 seconds of trying to lift the thing of the ground before i gave up.

wanted to give the duck taped stone a ride but figured id keep it for next time......

I actually asked Art during the show if I could bring the duct-taped one home with me, maybe get it autographed by all the competitors. I would just set it on top of my coffee table as a conversation piece. That thing was a riot.

Great Job Marshall. I really couldn't tell you were nervous. Honestly the camera scared me more than anything.
For those of you that don't know Kevin actually wore a suit after the contest to the bar we met at. He couldn't stop talking about it and I'll admit he did look good in it. Except when marshall saw him and gave him his honest opinion on getting it fitted in certain areas. Kevin was crushed for about a second and then i think he hugged marshall for being honest with him. The funny part is marshall dresses dead people for a living so he knows his stuff.

Awesome report!! I was wondering why you didn't finish the stone series...and now I know! Makes sense now, because from what I've read and heard and viewed, your stone loading is amongst the best.
Thanks again!

Hey!!! Those 2x4's came out of nowhere (like 5 times)!!!!
Damn 2x4s... 2 days before I competed in Fresno, I was walking up the driveway to my house and I stepped on a random 2x4 and totally sprained the hell outta my ankle. Coundn't walk for a few hours. I had NO idea where it came from... 2x4s are placed by Satan in various places to cause strongmen to hurt themselves.

Great job, M-dub! That's a seriously solid placing in a field of that caliber. Pat yourself on the back and keep pushing forwards!

Hey, you coming to Saanich Sunfest this year again?

You know I'm gonna go that show! I had a blast last year!

Dan- I tripped so many times I actually asked the crowd if they were tired of it yet! (and they yelled YES!)

Garrick- The moral of the story is no matter how good of an event TAKE IT SERIOUSLY EVERY TIME!
