In the spirit of Derek's rant, I will start posting all my write-ups here as well.

23-25 something AMs competed. There were 11 pros but they did each events after all the AMs and they were scored seperately.

-Arm over arm:
Got a good start but as my grip started getting tired, I started fumbling with the rope and lost it a couple times, and when I re-gripped, the truck was already going up the uphill slant and had slowed down WAAAAY too much, so I kept fighting till the whistle blew and didn't finish. Only a few AMs finished, but most who didn't finish got like a couple feet farther than me, of course

-Axle, 280, clean one and max reps.
Got 8 reps, one guy got 9, and 2 guys got 12, but 8 was a great standing and it got me alot of points. 280 frickin felt heavy after doing the arm over arm! I couldn't believe it, I figured I was good for 15 reps. Order of events is EVERYTHING!

-Car deadlift, Ford Mustang GT, handles very close to the car
This was a CRAZY event. The first 10 or 12 guys that went up didn't even budge it. Almost all the AMs got a 0 on this event. I go up near the end and bang out 10 reps. The next guy down only got 6, 2 guys got 5, and a couple got 1 or 2 reps. This was more incredible because the pros used the same setup as us (same weight in hands, etc.) and THEY were having trouble! I couldn't believe it. They were either getting a ZERO or getting 3-5 reps. Nick Best got 9 and could not pull that tenth rep to equal me, so I really felt like the hero of the day. I just couldn't believe I pulled that off, the pros were all coming up to me saying congrats and that they were really inspired and stuff, it was really a cool moment and definately the highlight of the show for me.

-Farmers/powerstairs
I knew this was my do or die event. 330 farmers for 80 feet and 2 pwrstair implements up 3 steps each. Here's the catch: Anyone who doesn't finish the farmers gets a ZERO for the whole damn event. Carry them 79 feet or 4 feet, didn't matter on the scoreboard. My grip was dead from the arm over arm and the DL, and I only made around halfway with the 330s, so I got a zero for that F-ing event.

-Stones, 280 to 400
Did the first 4 stones in 15 something seconds, one-motioned the first three, popped up the fourth one very quickly, but as I was trying to lap the 400, I grabbed it off center and it rolled forward out of my arms, so I set it down and re-gripped. My hips were totally shot from everything and I tried grabbing it again, off center AGAIN. A third time and I finally lapped it, but then I lost some balance and leaned too far forward and it fell out of my lap... kind of a freak accident, so I stopped there. Got 4th overall on the stones cause 3 AMs loaded the 5th stone. My hips might have been shot cause I picked up the 330 farmers like 500 times. My grip costed me another pro card. As usual. A better grip would have meant a strong finish on the truckpull and farmers/pwrstair medley and Nick and I would have been ectremely lose on points...not sure who would have won though... he was very consistent all day. I need to really start beating the holy hell out of my grip when I train it. Not just 3 sets. I need to train it so heavy and with lots of thickbar that I can't scratch my ass afterwards. Not too often, but just with a lot more volume and intensity. I'm sick of this.

Got 5th (if I remember right) AM out of 23.

I am very confident about Coy's show in Indiana (my next PRO-AM) since there's only one grip event and it's the end of a medley that most people probably won't finish anyway. More on that later... lots of medleys, power events, and a front carry and car deadlift hold that I cannot wait to unleash my hate upon.

Hell of a contest, Dan.

You know why they gave you all or nothing on the farmers walk? They were probably too lazy to measure it out! Hahaha.

nice job on the DL Dan. I'd love to see video if you've got it.

I'm sure you'll do great at your next pro-am.

I've got video of Dan on the car DL, I've just been really busy with work and haven't uploaded a lot of stuff from the contest.

Maybe tomorrow.

Dan- Apparently most grip strength originates from the neck so....try going and getting a DEEP tissue massage focusing on your neck and forearms...make sure it is someone that knows what they are doing and make sure it hurts A LOT!!! I did this twice before the mohegan and I do believe it helped as evidenced by my massive improvement in the frame carry (no drops). Good job at the show especially on the deadlift. Do you think it would have been beneficial to only pull say 3 reps (or however many you needed to win) on the dead since teh pros were scored seperately and you didn't need 10 to win the ams?

I just knew I wanted a lot of reps and guys who I thought might beat me by a rep or so were going after me, so I didn't want to take any chances. I could have stopped at 7, but I didn't know the next AM down would only do 6. That's just the way it rolls sometimes...

Never heard about the neck thing... can I give you a call about that so you can splain that to me a little deeper? Txt me for a good time to call... thx bro

cool write-up. I am in the same boat as you, my grip is very weak.

Great job Dan, awesome freaking deads. The zero on the Farmers does suck. Bad idea for scoring that event with no measurements.

Get jacked up for Ind. It looks like a great day to get your Pro Card.

Actually Brugal got 7 reps

Not that it matters, but the advertised 330 farmers, were exactly 50 lbs. more than the LWs' who were told they were using 260.

However, one difference we noticed is they shaved the little knurling they had off for the HW's.

Ya, sorry for the mistake. I just checked the scoresheet. Funny, the scoresheet also said that Mac Mcallister is a raging homosexual. Weird. Those backrubs you gave me and Nick felt totally hetero!

Maybe did 7, but one was taken away for some reason, so he was counted with 6. As far as I remember, that is.

Nope it was 7.

That knurling was gone homey! It went from "Oh, shit!" to "Oh, slick!" overnight.

Mike wanted the knurling down alot because of the pros having nats in a few weeks and didnt want guys to rip skin.

come on dan you got to those things to yourself. If the cat get s out of the bag that nick is an ASC PRO STRONGMAN because of those back rubs, everyone is going to want one. Oh by the way, that's the last free one harrison.
