I need to get on my neck strength. And I've heard the APT one is garbage. Any brands that actually hold up well? elitefts?

I got a leather one from Altus (an Okie company) that has held up pretty well over the years.

I would smell better. But still couldn't use a leather head harness...

Sports Authority almost always has them on sale, man. Or even Play It Again Sports.

If you don't mind shelling out the cash, get the Ironmind one. I've had it loaded to around 300 for some really short range lockouts and done some half-squats with it at the low 200s on it and it has never had a problem. It would help if I didn't have this goofy neck that's incurably long and skinny, but at least I can say that the harness is top quality.

My brother and I have effectivly destroyed an APT neck harness but I just bought one from Spud (on Elitefts) and it looks very sturdy. The chain is thick and the straps themselves are the same quality that they use on all of their products (or so it appears). I'm popping its cherry tomorrow so I'll let you know how it goes.

hook a light or medium band to a pole rack put that thing on head walk away to get tension and head bang away, drive forward back ward side ways great easy and effective adjust load by just moving

Another easy and cheap method is to get an old football helmet and screw a floor flange and threaded pipe onto the top. Load it with a little weight and you can work your neck through all ranges of motion. Bridges are pretty darn cheap too.

I would say the Ironmind one, Might be expensive but their stuff is good quality and you know it will be up to it.

$15, a heckuva lot cheaper than the Ironmind or Spud one.

I just read the description on Spud's neck harness. Hilarious. I will post it here:

100 reps a day makes your collared shirts go away
You know what sucks? Wearing shirts that have a collar and the people that try to force you into them. Actually, the more that I think about it, the more I realize that the collared shirt is not the problem. It's not their fault that someone stiched them up, looking more like George McFly than Marty.
No, it's the people who are always trying to get you into one of these things. As if the world will finally give you a million dollars and a pat on the back for your new fashion sense.
You know what's even worse? People that insists that you dress up for church. Getting dressed up so you can learn the teachings from someone that wore a robe and sandals (aka Jerusalem Cruisers) and shunning material items and searching for spiritual growth. Very interesting.
So if you love Jesus, you have to buy a neck harness. And if you are on the fence on this one, remember Pascal's Wager.

I stopped using my Ironmind head harness after I tweaked my neck a bit. At the time though, I was holding 300lbs in the air and ripping a deck of cards with 4 layers of duct tape around it in front of about 60 salespeople for Dex Media, so it wasn't like I could drop the weights and go "OUCHIE OUCHIE OUCHIE!" like I really wanted to. Ended up selling the harness. It was good quality though.

Nik, I just used the Spud neck harness and I liked it. It's actually "harder" than the APT one. I think it places the weight a little further back on the head and it hits the neck harder with less weight. It's expensive, but I'm guessing it will last me for a long time. Oh, and the APT one used to pinch my ears on every rep, this one doesn't.
