A friend of mine graduated with his degree in film last fall and he like me have been wondering, why isn't there a strongman documentary. I mean bodybuilding has one huge one in pumping iron, Powerlifting has Power Unlimited which to my knowledge has only been shown to a limited number of theater's around the states. The idea is only in its infancy stages but if we had a good amount of people interested I think we may go through with the idea to make the documentary a reality. With Strongman growing in terms of popularity in the states I think it would be a great idea if a documentary were out there showing the training and lifestyles of strongmen and strongwomen from all over the world.
So who would be interested in being possibly in the film or even interested in the idea at all?

Well, they do have that Jón Páll one and its supposedly pretty popular, but who knows when it'll come to the US.

That's a good point...there really isn't one covering the sport as a whole and its top stars. Of course the "clustering" of most of the top bodybuilders to Cali helped I am sure...
Good idea though...

It would cost a decent amount of money to produce. You'd have to do your research, and conduct a lot of interviews with guys from all over the world. You could talk to Jamie Reeves and Bill Kazmeier and Geoff Capes about what it was like when it first started, then talk to Jouka Ahola and Magnus Samuelsson about what it is like to day, now that the athletes train the events. Then you can of course interview the top pros of today...
I know all the things I pointed out are obvious, but you do have to think about how to get these interviews. Do you fly to meet them? Ask guys to hang around after competition and interview them for an hour apiece? The latter idea is probably preferable, just fly to one big competition and film it and then conduct interviews afterwards.

I've gotta say what you know because it's really not fair to everyone else.
Chris Mathison is making a strongman porno this summer. So far it's just him and Brousey
The Hugo Girard documentary was more along the lines of what a strongman is and not so much a training DVD.
