My wife showered too, but she regrets not eating. Out daughter was 5 1/2 weeks early. We went to the fair one night, and had (a pretty small and crappy) dinner around 5 or 6. We walked around the fair for a bit, then went to the rodeo at the fair, then the Charlie Daniels concert after the rodeo. We got home around 12:30. We debated stopping for a late night bite to eat, but the only place open was a Denny's notorious for slow, bad service, so we just went home.

Then, at 2 am, my wife said to me "Turn on the lights. My water just broke." We got ready quickly (since we were so far out from the due date, she hadn't yet packed "the bag") and went to the hospital, where they at first told her she'd just peed herself (like she wouldn't know the difference). Lilly was born just after noon.
