and is the price good for the 4 in 1 combo?

I'm sick of my crappy commercial gym and I am putting a gym in my garage.

Well I'm a little disappointed. I mean I love power racks, but they're definitely my second favorite type of "rack"

I only go to the island every other saturday (some times every saturday) to get training in with stones and tires and stuff, so I'll still be there.

that is the same one I use and look how strong I am! :BP:

Seriously I like it just fine. If you are tall you will have a hard time OH pressing in it.

The TDS Rack (http://www.newyorkbarbells.com/pro92580.html) is wider, has larger, heavier gauge tubing and is available in a 96" option is you want to press inside of it. You can pick up weight on Craigslist for cheap, so I wouldn't concern yourself with the package deal.

I know a few people have had issues w/ TDS equipment, but it always seems to be the stuff with moving parts, i.e. reverse hyper. I got one of their glute ham raises off Craigslist for $125 and I love it.

Yeah, I can say to steer clear of TDS stuff with anything that moves, such as my "world's most rickety reverse hyper" that bears their name, but if their racks are good, the price can't be beat for some of their specials.

I like my el-cheapo NYBB power rack:
http://www.newyorkbarbells.com/92563.html

My basic setup cost 300 bucks for the rack including shipping, 200 bucks for 500 lbs of weights at Dick's, and 50 bucks for a cheap adjustable bench (incline, flat, decline, 90 degree).

If I had the cash, the link Kurt posted with the 96" rack and back plate attachment is real nice...

There is actually a new york barbell store like 15 minutes from my house, so I'm just going to go there and get one of those racks.

Is the $300 fine, or should I spend the $150 more and get the one that Kurt posted?

Kurt's is nice since it is 3" tubing, and 7" wider. The width will be useful for squatting, GMs, etc.., and it is obviously stronger. Plus they make a monster J hook for the 3" tube only, which you could put a log on. NYBB has good accessories for the racks. I bought 2 sets of plate holders which I love.

I bought mine since its was the only rack with free freight, but you won't have to pay shipping so that's a bonus. Plus the 450 one is expandable in the back in case you want to add a ton of plates someday, that would be a slick setup.

If you have the cash, I'd go for the more expensive one. But if you're on a budget, the cheaper one is a great budget rack and has held up well for me. The chin up bar that they come with is pretty nice also, depp knurling that takes some getting used to though.

At least make the trip over and see what they have setup, I didn;t realize they had a store.

it's up to you.

you can always do overhead presses outside of the rack, and set the pins on the outside of the tubing. But, then you have to be prepared to dump the missed lifts.

If it was my choice, i'd get the bigger, taller one. The 150 will be well spent since a good power rack will last you your whole life.

I got the $300 TDS rack last week and I think it's great for the money. Much better than the Body Solid one I had a few years ago.
