You know how you always see these top 10 baseball games of all time, fights of all time, football games of all time, I was thinking: What about strongman?
If you guys/gals could make a list of the top 10 contests of all time, which contests would you include and why?

I don't know how I would list them, but, WSM 06' would be up near the top.

I don't have as much to compare it to as some here do, but I thouroughly enjoyed the "Phantom" WSM of 1987, with Kazmaier, Sigmarsson, and Capes settling the dispute between who was truly the World's Strongest Man at the time

Top 10 WSM?
1. 2006 - The way Phil won from behind was amazing. Also 1st American since Kaz.
2. 1994 - MVM waited three years for his second title, and he stole it out from under Hoeberl's nose.
3. 1981 - Kazination. That's what Kaz and domination are together, and that's what this was.
4. 1997 - Ahola came from nowhere and from behind to win his first.
5. 1988 - Kaz almost had his fourth title with impressive wins in the log, deadlift, and medley, but the near-flawlessness of JPS combined with a little bad luck...not to mention Jon-Pall's stone run to cap off the victory make this a good one.
6. 1990 - Gotta love a half-point victory for a record fourth title, even if it was tragically at the expense of the strongest man on the planet at the time, O. D. Wilson.
7. 1993 - Great setting and a great victory for Gary Taylor.
8. 1977 - The one that started it all. Gotta love the bodybuilders, and Wilhelm is under-rated too.
9. 1984 - The king lost his crown in the snow. Another sick location.
10. 1982 - Kaz was showing the wear and tear of remaining at the top for three years, getting hurt in the bar bend and squat; but he managed deadlift over 1000lbs. to seal the victory for three straight, and did you see his traps during the Sumo challenge? Haha, huge.

Off the top of my head....
2006 WSM
2006 IFSA Championships
2004 World Muscle Power Championships
All of them came down to the very last event and that made them really exciting.

I agree pretty close to most of this list, but I would probably throw in the phantom 87 contest. I just watched it recently and those 3 men in competition together is just pure motivation.

I thought 99 was great too, pretty much a two man battle with Ahola and Magnus, but Ahola losing the year before and then tearing it up when it mattered, fantastic.

Pure Strength 1 (1987) - the best strongman contest ever. Gotta love the simplicity and the originality.
