whats everyone waiting for havent seen any predictions on what you guys think is going to happen i personally think the competition level this year is the best its ever been and it will come down to the last event i have pretty good idea on how each event will go except the truck pull this may be the event that ends up winning or losing it so lets hear what all you out there think i need something to fire me up before the comp

I agree Jared. The field is very level this year. There are four or five guys that could easily be on top and it wouldn't surprise me with any one of them, depending on how points get split up with finishes on each event. One thing is for sure - the winner can't make any mistakes. Too much talent in the field for a slip up. I agree the truck pull will be pivotal.

I'm not going to name my top three picks other than to say you're my first pick.

I predict Ben Moore will show up and compete one-legged and Poundstone everyone that way.

You just keep moving up the BFSE. BTW, Tully is OUT!!!!!

I see it this way. I only know about half the competitors, and it's going to be damn tough to repeat, Spy is still the fav. but he will be challenged.

Also, if Barabas is still in the mix going into the pull. I hope you all can break 9. Better eliminate him quick

Stones, does not matter. After most of us go. I hope we all slide into the stones on the dirt. Will make any stones tough to pick up after all your tacky is filled with crap.
Probably better to go early on this one.

Ahhh, Barabas. Now you're cryin' like a little baby....Come on brother, I thought you could handle things better than that.....So what if you're not everyone's favorite.....I'll go ahead and pick you to win it if it will make you feel any better. The last thing we need is a manic Barabas weighing-in in white laced up speedos, completely crazed because he's getting no respect and hasn't eaten in four days to make weight. Try to hold on brother.

Rick, you're a good man.
ST still got negative reps. amongst other things.

Out of all the Pros I've seen this year, Gertz looked the most impressive.

Barabas, I got to agree there. He's small fella but packs a mighty punch. He could definitely shake things up if he's having a good day. He might even give you a run for your money....

healed up in what aspect? i just saw him a month ago in new mexico and he looked pretty injury free and strong as heck. the only thing he told me was his stones took a setback due to not training them as much because of a hurt bicep from kansas.

I think Jamie N will do very well - he got beat in Indiana and now will be back with a little bit more motivation. I think if Scott is on his game he will win - he is on fire and hitting prs on a regular basis.

okay chris.

i've heard a lot of stuff about guys, broken hands, injured hammies, calves, etc.

my thing is...if you're injured, you don't compete. if you're hurt, so is everyone else so cowboy up.

I can't believe I've seen a couple of top 5 predictions without Kevin Nowack in there. Last year he didn't compete due to an injury in Tulsa the month before, but he won the 105K title in 05'. So he hasn't been beaten by anyone at nationals in 3 years. He's moved back to NY last yr, so I don't see him training at the gym I go to anymore, but I've talked to Kirk Nowack, and he said Kevin's training is going well. Spybrook is the #1 man to beat. As far as I'm concerned, Nowack is #2.

Nowack will be a threat, but most people on this board have yet to see him compete and we dont have access to his vids and he does not post anywhere that I am aware of. Plus, some of us new pros were not even around in 05. I only knew that polish guy 2 years ago.

Kevin is tough and deserves to be placed with the top guys if he is ready. All I have heard is that he is/was injured. But to mention performances from '05 as a basis for performances this year is a mistake. It's a whole new field of competitors. And believe me, they have advanced. I really believe some of the top AM's today are stronger, quicker and better than the many/all of the pro's from '05 at that time. The point is everyone is constantly elevating their game. If Kevin has keep up, he will be in the mix for top finish. Not only is he strong, he is one of the best technical SM I have seen. He doesn't make mistakes.

Maybe even more than Kirk, he is really, really good at just about every event I've seen him at, but probably not really phenominal at any. In 05' he didn't win a single event but won the title. Very consistent, kind of a jack of all trades master of none so to speak.

Yeah, alot of the older (comapred to all the guys in their 20s) LW & HW pros that are in their 30s don't post here: the Nowacks, Walt Gogola, Gerard Benderoth, etc and those are just the ones I know.

based on the fact that both Nowack's competed against Spybrook earlier this year an didnt beat him in a single event may be the basis for this, while some of the other LW pros were much more competitive when competing against him. Obviously, it is only one contest, but still a comparison several people have probably made.

The south atlantic in Columbia, SC.

I was there, Spybrook wasn't really even pushed on most of the events.

Was only 4 LW pros there, Spybrook, both Nowacks, and Kaifas. I heard/read whereSpybrook won all 5 events, including I think it was an axle DL. I was at Utah last year, where he won 4 of 5 events, but in the 550-700 DL medley was 7th out of 8 (only 8 LW pros at last yr's nats) I think, so if DL was a weak spot for him, it doesn't appear to be anymore.

Tom Mutaffis

Yeah, I was in SC and Spy was strong on the pulls - looked at the judges on his last rep and asked if he had done enough to win then just let it drop with time left on the clock.

Everyone competing this weekend earned the opportunity to be there and sure it will be a great showdown between a number of great competitors / Strongmen.
