Ran my first contest today and Im pleased to say it went good.....

I was expecting alot more people to show up but we only had 10 athletes. Which was suprising because we had 12-15 pre registered, and paid.... so im not to sure what happenend. and i was expecting more unregistered walk-ins..... but what can you do?

Wesley Inman, 405 close but missed

Big John Flynn Hits a big 460 at 175 body weight

alec Johnson missed 450,

Oh yeah, we had a 60 year old man hit 230 in the masters division!

for the small amount of ppl we had a really good time....... The overall strength award went to Alec Johnson benching 213 pounds over his body weight! My buddy aurther was pissed because he was 208 pounds over his body weight and easily could have done more!

After for fun we had a body weight for reps contest, im to tired to go into detail but Marunde Muscles own Wesley Inman won benching 195 for 25 reps!!!! he took home the trophy!

A special thanks to Mike Pelosi for helping me out running this contest! He really stepped up and helped make this possible! Thanks Mike,

Also Thanks to Brandon Smith from the board for coming down and supporting the event !

For the amount of ppl we had we made it into a pretty good event that will only grow! Im pretty pissed off about the lack of support i got from my employees and about a group of my "best firends" who were suppose to show up and compete/ help me run the contest. So im really having mixed emotions right now. But it was a great contest. Im tired :BP:

That's awesome man, I'm glad it worked out well for you. I would say for a 1st contest you did 1 hell of a job setting it up and running it. If you have another 1 let me know, i will be sure to make my way up to give some support.

I wont stand behind or put my name on anything that isn't good or respectable. The Bench Contest was. We showed up and got everything in order, got a list together. Rules were: No boucning (but no pause either), lock out the elbows, no butt coming off the bench. ALso, your partner was able to spot you/give you a lift off which people LOVED because they felt comfortable doing so. However, once the big weights started rolling Matt, Krystle and I stepped up on spotting , loading, judging, getting following attempts, and making sure everything was cool and everyone was comfortable. Today was a day of complete, raw power.

The bench for reps were completely locked out, I gave a down command for every rep (arms had to be fully locked out.) I wish more people would show their support and give back to strength athletics. Strongmen, power lifters, olympic lifters, body builders...our sport is incredibly different but nothing can take away from our unified bond of the gym. So START GIVING BACK!

This went as well as it could of possibly went and I am proud of Matt, everyone that showed up, Krytsle, and the Woburn YMCA for being hospitable to the athletes. It looked shaky and questionable at first but we stepped it up and gave the people their money's worth. Next time their will be more people.

Matt---send me all the results, attempts, list of sponsors, athletes, and anyone who you would wish to thank and I'll get Power Lifting USA to publish the results and give you a little push. Great job again bro

Wesley and Ben-great meeting you guys. Thanks for coming and showing your support for one of the greatest sports in the world.

Powerlifting rocks, end of story

Hey Matt,

I just wanted to let you know that the event went great. As to the people who didn't show, don't sweat them. The guys who -were- there competing I know appreciated you putting together a fun and well run event. You've got your first contest under your belt, and I'm sure the next one will be even bigger and better! Great job to you and Mike and Krystle!

Nice meeting you and Mike and Wesley. Let me know if you guys want to train up at one80 sometime, or down at TPS. I'm sure Mike Zylinksi would be in too.

Matt,

Great job, sounds like it was a great contest. Congrats to Wesley for some sick lifts!! That's inspiring to me since we are close in bodyweight. Wish I could have made it, at least to hang out with Brandon and complain that us long arm guys aren't made for benching :T: , but I was on vacation. That's awesome that Mike came over to help out, sounds like the support was really appreciated too.
