So i got my first show under my belt and the wheels have been spinning all day about what i can do next??????

Another bench contest sounds good and i got alot of good ideas from the guys who showed up to todays meet, but i couldnt have another bench contest until atleast winter (november, december)

Soooo.... Saturday Spetember 8th.... i am helping to run the Y's annual road race. We are hope'n to have a couple of hundred runners and just to have a huge event....
Soooo ... I was thinking today, why not have a strongman contest after the road race?
We have our own field next to the building, plenty of spectators already there and a strongman contest is always a good time....

WHo would be down? keep in mind this is still a very very ruff idea that will need to be approved by many many different people.

Some thing like

deadlift, either for max or a heavy set weight for reps

Log either for max or heavy max rep

Heavy farmers for distance

Atlas stone, 1 stone max reps

maybe a medley? Im not exactly sure...

But this is a very ruff idea

May I suggest, becase of simplicity and not having to worry about impliments, you do something like that Atlantis Fondation did in 04 and 05? Okay, Ill be honest, I want to do a contest like this lol

1. Max Over Head weight 3 attempts

2. 1 arm dumbell snatch on plate loaded olympic handle dumbell 3 max attempts

3. Deadlift (or variation) weight for reps

4. 5 rep max pushup with wiehgt (or pull up with most weight)

5. Something stupid like an over head squat max lift or something.

Not necessarily these events but an actual STRONGMAN contest where time, speed, and endurance dont play into it so the strongest can prevail. Plus, everyone at mostly all gyms has acess to a bar and plates.

Matt,

I'd be very interested. I was looking at the Rhode Island contest as well, on Sat sept 8.

But to be able to compete in the Woburn area would be a big plus, and the events you posted look perfect. I like what Mike's getting at, and have no issue with that format, although a 1 arm DB snatch isn't something I've even tried before.

There is a NASS Platinum level contest that will include the Women's National Championships in New Jersey on Sept. 8th. Top three in each weight class will qualify for the Nationals, if you are interested, go to:

www.nastrongman.com, and look under contests.
