Just curious if anyone has heard of the results from Utah this weekend? It looked like a really good line-up for both the heavies and lights. I wonder if the heat was a factor for anyone?

I know that Travis Ortmayer won the heavy pros, not sure about anybody else.

I hit 2 of my goals in Utah.
1st event.: Won the medley in amateur division. Goal Hit
2nd event: Log: MISSED my opener at 285. Could not believe it. I've slaughtered 300+ on 12" logs before, but the medley really tired my quads out and I was more tired that I thought. I didn't practice hardly any log at all b4 the meet, wrongly assuming that Oly bar press would transfer to log. I guess I sort of forgot how to do the log right or something. Live and learn. I'll be back.
3rd event: Max Deadlift: Hit 600, 620, and 640 PR. Goal #2 Hit. Had to do them within 2 minutes of each other, so I bet I could have successfully hit a 660 first shot, but I wanted to play it safe after the log disaster. I placed in the middle of the HWs with this lift.
4th event: 780 frame carry. 4 pros and 1 amateur got it moving, nobody else budged it except me. I got it about 2 feet. Only allowed 2 drops in this event. The 2 feet didn't count because you had to bring the implement totally across the line to have any distance count. 10 or 11 guys bombed on this one, so I don't feel bad.
5th: Stones of Power, 250, 300, 300, 360, 360: After molesting the 1st 3 stones, I had the 4th stone on the platform and I stepped forward to roll it on and my left ankle rolled. That was the end for me. It'll be fine in a day or 2 and I'm glad Scott Brengal and another dude helped me off the field. Thanks, guys. I felt extremely powerful and if the ankle hadn't have rolled, I believe I would have nailed all 5 stones. Even with my time with the 3 stones I placed very high in the rankings.
If I had even put a light log press 245 or 265 on the board, I would have been I believe in the top 3 amateurs, but since I bombed, my final placing isn't gonna be pretty.
Now I know to go conservative on an OPENER log press after a hard medley.
Mike Miller was a no-show.
Thanks to the Lord that nothing seriously bad happenned and that I have a lot more knowledge and experience for my next 2 meets, and more importantly, for the Nationals.
When they come, I'll be ready.
No Mercy.

Dan,
Great job, too bad about the ankle. So what are the two other meets you plan on competing in? any idea on the placing of the pro and am hw's? Keep that intensity up as well and you should reach even more goals next time.

Hey thanks, Jason. Not sure about the placings...when I asked Dione, she starting yellng at me, so I ran for my life! I'm going to New Mexico's Strongest man in 3 weeks (August 13th) and then Hudson River Strongman a week later. then Amateur Nats in November.
Hope all is well, dude!

If I recall correctly, it went like this:
HW AM:
1) Nick Best (earned pro card)
2) Ricky LaRocca
3) Rocco (don't know how to spell his last name)
4) Mike Wortham
5) me
and I am unsure of the rest
HW PRO:
1) Travis Ortmayer
2) Kevin Nee
3) Matt Wanat
4) Sam Mcmahon
I may be a bit off, but I am pretty sure. Van put on an awesome contest.

I am curious to know how Nee performed and how he looked overall? For those who saw him on MTV, how has his physique changed. Maybe he could chime in as he is a member.
Good showing guys! How did hte Freak Factory guys do?

Overall i wasnt to happy with my performance. i took last in the pro division for the medley which is usually something i thrive in. slipped up on the tire and lost by a second to two of the pros. Log i attempted 315 and locked it out but brought it down before the down signal and that was it for me. but i then took first in the pro division in the deadlift. i pulled 760 which is a pr for me. 2 for pros in frame carry and 2 in the stones. who do you think got first in most of the events?.........Could it have been TO. haha....awesome job Travis

You did a fantastic job Kevin. I wasn't suprised by anything you did that day, but I was impressed. Congratulations also to Nick Best for getting his Pro card and breaking my deadlift record with an 800 lb pull!
